The Opportunity
The Contracting team is responsible for driving and completing contract negotiations with clients on behalf of the company\'s client businesses. Partnering closely with the Client Business relationship managers, Legal and Compliance, OnBoarding teams and other internal groups to ensure company\'s contracts balance commercial outcomes with appropriate risk management and fiduciary obligations. Covering a broad range of clients including sovereign wealth funds, central banks, pension funds and insurance companies each of whom may transact in different investment strategies, products, instruments and markets offered by the company.
Drive the contracting process from initial drafting through negotiation and execution for your portfolio of business
Manage client business and client expectations throughout the negotiation process
Facilitate and coordinate with internal partners across functions involved in the contracting process, ensuring their comments flow through to the contract and requisite approvals are obtained
Identify issues that are disseminated to potentially impacted internal partners for review, discussion, negotiation and resolution
Ensure that all completed contractual documentation is properly filed and in compliance with internal procedural and regulatory requirements
Find opportunities for process and client experience improvements
Support the sales team with contractual documentation queries
Participate in Onboarding initiatives including technology and workflow changes
Your Background
8-12 years of legal background preferably within financial services industry
Confirmed ability to draft and negotiate complex legal contracts
Ability to perform and deliver high quality legal contracts in a fast-paced environment
Proven skills in successfully handling contending internal and external demands within compressed timeframes
Strong communication skills - written and oral
Knowledge of the asset management industry (fund types, client base and strategies, operational set up and products) and applicable law and regulations
Comfort in working with multiple systems to track and lead through the contract negotiation lifecycle
Ability to independently run tasks and workload with some guidance and oversight
Ability to think out of the box, to navigate complex internal processes and functions, and be able to offer practical solutions that will be mutually beneficial to both the client and company
Proven ability to balance client needs with company policies and operational procedures; possess regulatory and technical awareness in order to understand associated risks and provide innovative, risk-free and compliance friendly solutions; enhance the client experience
Ability to be a great teammate is crucial
Possess the ability to adapt to internal processes and requirements
Open to new challenges; able to work effectively and efficiently on multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining the highest standard and attention to detail
Strongly proficient in standard software (e.g. Microsoft Office) and interested in new technologies
