Job Description


:CNA is looking for China-based correspondents to report on mainland China, along with developments involving Hong Kong and Taiwan. The successful candidate will be part of CNA\'s exciting expansion in reporting East Asia affairs and issues that have an impact on the wider Asian region.Responsiblities:

  • Produce a steady supply of original, value-added, and impactful stories that also meet the highest editorial standards
  • Candidates may be deployed to either the Digital or TV platforms, but must be prepared to produce content spanning various platforms such as digital, TV, or radio
  • Output from digital correspondents should run a full gamut of story formats, from news, features and analysis to commentaries and special projects
  • Deliverables from TV correspondents will include live hits, news stories, feature packages, and multi-part feature series
  • Build up a reliable network of officials, business people, analysts, and private-sector professionals
  • Monitor news developments in China and the region; provide prompt, concise, and accurate updates to guide editorial decisions
  • Exercise sound judgment in identifying possible story ideas from news developments that will be interesting and impactful for our audience
  • Provide suggestions to senior editors in forward planning of major events
  • Contribute to CNA\'s efforts in adopting new technology, social media tools
Qualifications:
  • At least four years of editorial experience, with prior reporting experience of covering the greater China region a plus
  • A news junkie with a keen interest in the news/current affairs agenda in China and across Asia
  • Outstanding writing skills, newsgathering abilities, and a never-give-up spirit
  • Comfortable in front of the camera and skilled in crafting TV news packages and features
  • A sound understanding of geopolitical sensitivities, and awareness of potential red lines
  • Working fluency in Chinese language, with basic ability to interpret or translate between English and Chinese
  • An independent operator with solid inter-personal skills who can also be a strong team player
  • Prior experience in working with visuals/AI/social media tools a plus
  • Prepared to work irregular shifts including on weekends and public holidays
  • This position can be based in either Shenzhen or Beijing
  • Degree preferably in Political Science, International Affairs or Economics
