What the role is:The Course Chair (CC) at the School of Humanities & Social Sciences (HSS) provides strategic leadership and management for both the Pre-Employment Training (PET) and Continuing Education & Training (CET) programmes in Gerontology. The CC's responsibilities encompass curriculum development, cultivation of industry partnership, student management and delivering quality student outcomes.What you will be working on:Key Responsibilities 1. Curriculum Development - Oversee the development, planning, delivery, and review of course curriculum, ensuring it remains ahead of the curve to be highly employable. 2. Continuing Education - Develop and facilitate professional CET programmes to meet the evolving needs of working adults. 3. Student-Centricity - Monitor and shape the student experience, fostering a nurturing learning environment and enabling holistic student development. 4. Academic & Administrative Management - Manage course matters such as manpower allocation, timetabling, evaluation, moderation, and assessment with rigour and accuracy. - Provide leadership and guidance to staff in both academic and administrative matters. 5. Partnerships - Strengthen and develop strategic academic partnerships, including engagement with industry partners and other Institutes of Higher Learning. - Stay current and responsive to emerging professional and educational trends through active engagement with industry and professional bodies/communities.What we are looking for:- Tertiary qualification in a relevant field (e.g., Gerontology, Social Work, etc). - Minimum 10 years of relevant industry experience, with some in a supervisory capacity. - Experience in academic leadership and/or in training & development is preferred. - In-depth knowledge of national policies, industry trends and dynamics within the social services and community care sectors. - A passion and genuine interest to share knowledge and interact with youths and/or adults. - Strong interpersonal, communication, leadership and organisational skills. - IT-savvy, and able to utilise learning technologies to enhance the learning of students.About Temasek Polytechnic:Established in 1990, Temasek Polytechnic (TP) is a leading institution of high learning nestled by the idyllic shores of Bedok Reservoir in Tampines.
