What the role is:Course Chair (Product Experience & Design)What you will be working on:Overview:The Product Experience & Design programme focuses on creating impactful and meaningful solutions in digital and physical products, services and experiences through the use of human-centred design principles with cutting-edge technologies in visualising, prototyping and production.About the Role:At the School of Design, the Course Chair (CC) is entrusted with the strategic management and enhancement of pre-employment training (PET) and continuing education training (CET) programmes, ensuring they are closely attuned to the dynamic design landscape while delivering student learning outcomes. The CC leads the course team to deliver academic excellence, with dedication and compassion, while upholding a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.Performance Indicators:1. Strategic Course Positioning:

• Maintain close ties and engagement with the industry to ensure timely curriculum refresh and maintain course relevance
• Lead initiatives to position the course as the preferred choice among prospective students, thereby enhancing subscription rates

2. Elevating Student Experience:

• Foster a nurturing learning environment conducive to holistic student development
• Implement innovative teaching and learning strategies to cultivate an engaging and robust educational experience

3. Driving Graduate Outcomes:

• Develop strategic initiatives to enhance students\' employability by aligning the curriculum with industry demands
• Forge partnerships to integrate real-world projects, networking opportunities, internships, and mentorship programs, enriching students\' career prospects

4. Staff Capability and Development:

• Cultivate trust and positive relationships with staff, fostering a supportive and collaborative work environment
• Provide support and empower staff, nurturing their capabilities and competencies to fulfil their responsibilities and achieve job satisfaction

Key Responsibilities:1. Curriculum Development

• Oversee the development, planning, delivery, and review of course curriculum, ensuring it remains ahead of the curve to be highly employable

2. Continuing Education

• Develop and facilitate professional CET programmes to meet the evolving needs of working adults

3. Student-Centricity

• Monitor and shape the student experience, fostering a nurturing learning environment and enabling holistic student development

4. Administrative Management

• Manage course matters such as adjunct allocation, timetabling, evaluation, moderation, and assessment with rigour and accuracy
• Provide leadership and guidance to staff in both academic and administrative matters

5. Partnerships

• Strengthen and develop strategic academic partnerships, including engagement with industry partners and other Institutes of Higher Learning
• Stay current and responsive to emerging professional and educational trends through active engagement with industry and professional bodies/communities

What we are looking for:

• At least 5 years of work experience in the local/global User Experience and Product Design industry
• Strong portfolio demonstrating leadership and proficiency in various aspects of design, particularly Human-Centered and User Experience Design
• In-depth knowledge of design industry trends and market dynamics
• Strong interpersonal, communication, leadership, and organisational skills
