Imperium Commodity Search is working with an international dairy trading business on the launch of their Singapore office. Our client has seen organic growth of a rapid kind since their inception and have recently acquired a desk in US to add to their established Australian business. Next on the growth chart is a regional hub in Singapore, trading physical dairy products across cheese and powders in South East and Far East Asia.
Our client has grown their trading portfolio over 7 years of international trading, marketing and distribution of dairy products. With an excellent knowledge of the dairy markets and the needs of their end users, they have grown to become more than just a trading house, but a true provider and partner to their clients globally. Aside from trading, our client offers financing, procurement, freight and distribution facilities to suppliers and customers across APAC, EMEA, and the US/LatAm markets.
This opportunity suits an experienced dairy trader (primarily cheese and powders) who is looking to join a team in growth mode and be heavily involved in the rollout and growth of a regional office. Our client will be launching the desk with 2-3 traders in total so you will be working in a small team to rapidly grow out a dairy trading portfolio in the APAC region.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Manage back to back trading of cheese, powders and dairy products across the APAC region
• Aggressively target new business opportunities and onboard clients/customers for the sale of dry dairy products (primarily cheese and powders)
• Keep up to date with market analysis/movements and capitalise on trading opportunity that arises
• Work closely with senior management and commercial managers on new business opportunities, trading geographies or purchasers of dairy product
• Meet with clients, purchasers and suppliers of dairy product (butter, cheese, powders, nutrition products)
• Work to increase mapetitive supply contrargins, negotiate comcts and attain long term sale contracts with suppliers and end users of dairy products
• Where required, work with external brokers, analysts and providers
• Reporting to the Managing Director with full P&L responsibility for your trading region/market
• Execution of trading patterns across medium to long term market access
• Assist senior management in long term strategy planning utilising market commentary, reports and experiences to shape trading
• Ensure quality targets are met and meet with customers to ensure benchmarks are exceeded
• Plan and review costings with suppliers to achieve the best rates and agreements
• Actively promote team work and internal moral to create an energetic and fast-paced work environment

Requirements:

• 5-7+ years' experience in a physical dairy (fats, powders, cheese) trading position in the APAC markets
• Degree educated (business, commerce or trade orientated ideally)
• Superb interpersonal skills
• A tenacity for results and proven ability to push the growth of a desk/organisation above and beyond target
• Teamwork and collaboration skills
• Excellent knowledge of the back to back dairy trading markets
• Strong relationships with processors and end users of milk powders, cheese and dairy products
• Fluent in English (additional language beneficial)
