Job Purpose

At Great Eastern, we are building Data and AI capabilities to activate the full value of our data. Reporting to Head, Group Data and AI, Center of Excellence, this role is to

\xc2\xb7 To oversee the Data & AI project end to end from development to deployment

\xc2\xb7 To help the leaders make the right technology decisions for data engineering/science, data hosting and to identify the right partners for development.

The Job:

\xc2\xb7 Broadly working across the entire GEL Data & AI solution space related to big data platforms engineering and data engineering

\xc2\xb7 Understand business priorities and success measures to design data solutions that drive business value.

\xc2\xb7 Collaborate with data science and data engineering team to augment data transformation efforts by identifying and piloting use cases.

\xc2\xb7 Discuss the feasibility of use cases along with architectural design with business teams and translate the vision of business leaders into realistic technical implementation. At the same time, bring attention to misaligned initiatives and impractical use cases.

\xc2\xb7 Align technical implementation with existing and future requirements by gathering inputs from multiple stakeholders \xe2\x80\x94 business users, data scientists, security professionals, data engineers and analysts, and those in IT operations \xe2\x80\x94 and developing processes and products based on the inputs.

\xc2\xb7 Play a key role in defining the Data & AI solution architecture and selecting appropriate technologies from a pool of open-source and commercial offerings. Ensure new tools are well-integrated with existing data management and analytics tools.

\xc2\xb7 Lead quality assurance (QA) activities from design to implementation phase of the proposed Data & AI solutions.

\xc2\xb7 Audit data tools and practices across data, models and software engineering with a focus on continuous improvement. Ensure a feedback mechanism to assess data & AI services

\xc2\xb7 Work closely with security and technology risk leaders to foresee and overturn risks. Remain acquainted with upcoming regulations and map them to best practices.

Qualifications

Our requirement:

\xc2\xb7 Broad knowledge and understanding of all pillars of Data & AI \xe2\x80\x93 Data Engineering, Analytics, and AI/ML

\xc2\xb7 At least 10 years of engineering experience with 5 years of hands-on Data Architecture experience in implementing of on prem or cloud Data Platform in a FI environment

\xc2\xb7 Proficiency in big data technologies and frameworks such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Hive, Pig, and HBase.

\xc2\xb7 Ability to design and architect large-scale, distributed, and fault-tolerant big data systems.

\xc2\xb7 Strong understanding of data storage and processing optimization techniques.

\xc2\xb7 Knowledge of data security, privacy, and compliance considerations in big data architectures.

\xc2\xb7 Experience in designing data pipelines and workflows, including data ingestion, processing, transformation, and storage.

\xc2\xb7 Understanding of real-time and batch processing paradigms and their appropriate use cases.

\xc2\xb7 Ability to identify and address performance bottlenecks and scalability challenges in big data systems.

\xc2\xb7 Familiarity with data governance and data management practices.

\xc2\xb7 Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and experience with tools like Apache Parquet, Apache Avro, or Apache ORC.

\xc2\xb7 Proficiency in BI tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Apache Superset.

\xc2\xb7 Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders, including business users, data scientists, and developers.

\xc2\xb7 Problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically about complex data challenges.

\xc2\xb7 Project management skills to plan and execute big data initiatives, including resource allocation and timeline management.

\xc2\xb7 Excellent communication skills with an ability to lead right level conversations

\xc2\xb7 Demonstrates alignment with the organisation\xe2\x80\x99s core values through expected behaviours
