Job Purpose
Railway infrastructure such as tracks, tunnels and viaducts are inspected and monitored routinely to ensure safe use. Increasingly, the use of inspection technologies such as photo imaging systems, laser and ultrasonic scan systems are used alongside more traditional track visual inspections methods to determine the condition of the infrastructure. Railway buildings and facilities are also equipped with smart environmental control, pump monitoring, and lift control systems. These building conditioning monitoring systems could be OEM proprietary systems or 3rd party solutions.
The defect and asset condition information from multiple inspection sources need to be aligned, processed, stored, and fused a linear asset data warehouse. The combined data can then be retrieved to 1) ascertain linear asset condition; 2) compliance to LTA code of practices; 3) fault diagnostics; 4) reliability centred maintenance program development; 5) spares provisioning.
The role of the Data Engineer in the Ops Analysis & Technology team is to mine asset condition and business insights from the central linear asset warehouse and work with Engineering, System Management groups within LTA for the above listed purposes. Additionally, the Engineer will be required to vet and prepare regulatory compliance report for submission to LTA.
