Duties & Responsibilities

• Explore and identify internal & external data sources to enrich data analysis; Translate data requirements from business users and data analysts / scientists into technical data modelling specifications.
• Identify and analyse raw data: sourcing data from existing production systems and/or data warehouse, assessing data quality, perform data cleansing and transformation for downstream processing.
• Propose and build ingestion pipelines to collect, clean, harmonise, merge, and consolidate data sources in the cloud environment.
• Support, operate and maintain existing data infrastructure (ETL jobs, data repositories, data visualisation platforms). This includes database capacity planning and maintenance, monitoring, performance tuning, problem diagnosis and preventative problem-solving. deploy measures to prevent issues recurrence.
• Research and develop new technologies and approaches for building a modern data ecosystem in Certis.
• Demonstrate analytics-driven operations through the application of data analytics techniques in decision-making and support tasks.
• Realise the business value of data analytics and promote a data-driven culture within the organisation.

Skills & Experience

• Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science, Statistics, Analytics, Mathematics, Operations Research or related technical fields
• 3+ years of practical application of Python, SQL and visualisation tools (Tableau, Power BI)
• Hands-on knowledge on ETL and data wrangling techniques; proficient with commonly used data engineering packages (e.g. Spark, Pandas)
• Hands-on knowledge in data-relevant tools/services from cloud service providers (eg. AWS - Glue, Data Catalog, Athena, RDS, Lambda etc.) as well as cloud data vendors (e.g. Snowflake, Databricks)
• Exposure to dimensional data modelling and schema design
• Candidates with practical experience in data virtualisation, data governance, data quality, and data privacy may be considered for Senior Data Engineer position
• Highly self-motivated to excel in assigned tasks and deliver results
• Passionate in learning new technologies
• Team-oriented and personable
• Good written and verbal communication skills; Ability to present and explain the technical aspects and benefits of analytics projects in a clear and convincing manner to business users/sponsors
• Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision
