What the role is:
This traineeship offers an opportunity to contribute to CSC's transformation into the Intelligence Hub for Public Service Learning by strengthening the quality, reliability, and trustworthiness of our data. You will work within the Data Quality & Engineering sub-team of the Data & AI Office (DAO), which underpins CSC's reporting and integration platforms. Through this role, you will gain hands-on experience in how Public Sector organisations ensure data quality at scale, from validation and assurance to profiling and monitoring. You will also develop key competencies in data engineering workflows, data governance practices, and the use of analytics platforms that support decision-making.
What you will be working on:
The trainee will be handling a range of responsibilities, including but not limited to the following: o Assist in designing and executing data quality checks, validation scripts, and assurance processes across CSC's core data platforms; o Support the creation and maintenance of data dictionaries, quality rules, and monitoring dashboards to track data health and flag anomalies; o Participate in data profiling, cleansing, and transformation to improve the usability and accuracy of datasets used for reporting and dashboards; o Collaborate with engineers and analysts to investigate and resolve data issues, including identifying root causes and documenting remediation steps; o Contribute to the continuous improvement of CSC's data governance documentation and workflows, helping institutionalise quality standards.
What we are looking for:

• Qualification in Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related disciplines; o Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail; o Interest in data quality, data engineering, and data governance; o Basic familiarity with tools such as SQL or Python will be an advantage but is not mandatory; o Self-motivated learner with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
