Job Description

What the role is:
Design & Planning Lab (DPLab) is a group within URA driving URA's Urban Planning & Design Technology Centre of Excellence (URBEX) efforts. Our teams with capabilities in software development, geospatial analytics, urban design modelling & simulation, data science, AI / ML, data engineering, data governance and management, work closely with planners, architects, policy makers across various agencies, as well as external partners, to generate insights and develop tools and solutions to tackle Singapore's urban planning challenges. You will be joining the Transport Modelling and Simulations team, supporting the development of smart transport planning tools.
What you will be working on:
- Assist in data preparation, processing, and exploration tasks - Analyse traffic data to identify patterns in vehicle movement - Support the design of models to simulate predict traffic volumes and assess junction performance - Create visualisations and presentations to communicate your work effectively to a wide range of stakeholders Learning Outcomes - Gain practical experience in applying data analysis and modelling to real-world urban planning challenges - Develop an understanding of how smart planning tools support the urban planning workflow - Build technical skills in data manipulation and analysis techniques - Have an opportunity to design and evaluate transport simulation models. - Cultivate critical thinking and problem-solving skills
What we are looking for:
NOTE: To facilitate the hiring process, please state your availability (part-time / full-time), including specific start and end date in your resume or application form. - Interns who are able to commit between Jan - Aug 2025 for 6 months. Full-time internship preferred. - Undergraduates / Postgraduates pursuing Computer Science, Data Science, Traffic Engineering, or other relevant studies - Familiarity with Python - Interest in the application of data science in transport planning We regret to inform that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
