What the role is:

The Home Team Science and Technology Agency (HTX) is a statutory board under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) which aims to pioneer innovation solutions and develop world class science and technology capabilities to transform and empower the Home Team in delivering safety and security for Singapore. We are looking for candidates to fulfill a role in Enterprise Data as Engineer/ Lead Engineer. He/ She will be part of a dynamic team involved in deploying state-of-the-art big data analytics, computer vision and machine-learning solutions for the Home Team departments.

What you will be working on:

As a Data Scientist (Risk Sensemaking Analytics) in HTX, you will develop suite of inhouse AI models to augment Cognitive workload of Home Team officers, and collaborate with stakeholders to develop data science & AI models to solve MHA\'s operational challenges and support new transformative capabilities. You will implement and deploy solutions best meet users\' requirements, accounting for technological suitability and factors of operational needs and alignment to organisational-level plans and roadmaps. The job-holder will collaborate with various teams (within HTX and across Home Teams) and is responsible to: \xe2\x80\xa2 Work in a data science team with other stakeholders to identify, scope, develop and implement data science and AI solutions to address users\' needs. \xe2\x80\xa2 Design and implement workflows for data pre-processing and feature engineering, develop machine learning models, and evaluate techniques and algorithms. \xe2\x80\xa2 Conduct evaluation of analytical output (e.g. model) and regular review of productionized models; refresh/ retire models. \xe2\x80\xa2 Prepare and present analytical insights that effectively describe complex quantitative methods in clear and concise communications to business users and stakeholders. \xe2\x80\xa2 Conduct strategic planning and develop data science & AI capabilities for MHA Work with relevant units to drive the adoption of data science & AI in MHA officers\' daily work. Advise business users on how data science approach can be applied to resolve strategic and operational challenges. \xe2\x80\xa2 Keep abreast of latest technological advances in data science and AI techniques.

What we are looking for:

• Degree in a quantitative discipline that involves Data Science/Analytics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics &/or Scientific Computing or relevant disciplines. \xe2\x80\xa2 Strong understanding in one or more of the following areas: \xe2\x80\xa2 Artificial intelligence algorithms \xe2\x80\xa2 Machine learning and deep learning \xe2\x80\xa2 Data mining and knowledge discovery \xe2\x80\xa2 Statistical forecasting methods \xe2\x80\xa2 Link analysis \xe2\x80\xa2 Natural language processing \xe2\x80\xa2 Automatic Speech Recognition \xe2\x80\xa2 Geospatial Information System / geospatial analysis \xe2\x80\xa2 Sensor analytics \xe2\x80\xa2 Visualisation \xe2\x80\xa2 Proficient in ML/AI scripting languages (Python, R), data query languages such as SQL \xe2\x80\xa2 Candidate with knowledge or experience on Dev Ops / ML Ops will have an added advantage Personal Characteristics & Behaviours He / She has \xe2\x80\xa2 good critical thinking, data analysis and problem-solving skills \xe2\x80\xa2 good written and verbal communication skills \xe2\x80\xa2 good interpersonal and stakeholder management skills \xe2\x80\xa2 ability to work under tight timelines All new hires are appointed on a two-year contract in the first instance and will be assessed and considered for permanent tenure over time, based on performance.
