We are seeking an experienced SQL Server Administrator to join our Engineering team in 8x8 APAC. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining the SQL Server infrastructure across multiple geographic regions to ensure the availability, performance, and security of the backend platforms. You will be working with self-managed SQL Server 2022 HA clusters in AWS and GCP, scaling platform using Data federation, partitioning and replication strategies. Additionally, the candidate will extend cloud-based data warehouse and reporting solutions.

Your responsibilities

• Work as part of an engineering team to create and maintain efficient, flexible, and scalable databases
• Monitor the system\'s health and performance of all SQL Servers databases, tuning queries, and configuring server hardware to optimize performance
• Automate release deployment activities
• Develop and maintain backup and recovery procedures to ensure the safety of critical data, mimimazing RTO and RPO
• Automate and orchestrate SQL Server provisioning using modern IaC approaches such as Terraform and Ansible
• Manage database security, including management of users and access levels, server hardening, and compliance with industry security standards
• Troubleshoot and resolve any database issues that may arise, such as connectivity issues or database errors in a timely fashion
• Participate in the design and development of databases and provide technical support to other team members and end-users
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of SQL Server technology advancements and apply them to improve database management
• Manage Google BigQuery data warehouse, including data ingestion, storage, and access
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure database compatibility with other systems and applications
• Provide recommendations for improvements to database infrastructure and processes based on industry best practices and emerging technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelors or Master\'s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.5 or more years of experience as a database administrator, with a focus on SQL Server
• Experience with backups, restores and recovery models
• Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Servers, such as Always On Availability Groups and Replication
• Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory
• Proficient in T-SQL performance tuning techniques
• Familiarity with data warehousing and Google BigQuery
• Passionate about staying up-to-date on emerging database technologies and applying them to improve database management.
