Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and specialized

AWS RDS Aurora PostgreSQL DBA

to support our team in the advanced configuration, monitoring, performance tuning, and operational management of Amazon RDS Aurora PostgreSQL environments. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in both

PostgreSQL internals

and

AWS-specific managed service operations

, going beyond general usage into detailed diagnostics and optimization practices.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Health Monitoring & Observability

Review and maintain

CloudWatch alarms

and

Performance Insights

dashboards Monitor

database connections

,

CPU utilization

, and

I/O metrics

Track

storage growth

, throughput, and health indicators
#

2. Log Analysis & Diagnostics

Analyze

PostgreSQL error logs

, identify recurring warnings and exceptions Monitor and troubleshoot

authentication failures

and

connection issues

Investigate

slow query logs

to proactively address performance bottlenecks Review

autovacuum logs

and plan

bloat control strategies

3. Capacity Planning & Resource Optimization

Assess

storage and compute resource trends

to guide scaling decisions Monitor

connection utilization

and concurrency limits Evaluate and plan for

backup retention and storage consumption

4. Performance Analysis & Tuning

Conduct periodic

performance audits

and generate actionable insights Identify and troubleshoot

top resource-consuming queries

Analyze

wait events

,

lock contention

, and

transaction longevity

Review

connection pooling mechanisms

(e.g., PgBouncer, RDS Proxy) Analyze and interpret

monthly performance patterns

Propose and implement

parameter configuration tuning

for improved efficiency

Requirements:

3+ years on AWS RDS Aurora PostgreSQL

Proven expertise in

PostgreSQL performance tuning

,

bloat management

, and

query optimization

Deep familiarity with

AWS RDS configuration

,

maintenance

,

monitoring tools

, and

backup/recovery processes

Hands-on experience with

CloudWatch

,

Performance Insights

, and

PostgreSQL logging

Strong understanding of

database scaling

resource usage

, and

capacity planning

Experience with

connection pooling

technologies such as

RDS Proxy

or

PgBouncer

Ability to work with infrastructure/DevOps teams for end-to-end performance improvements

Preferred Qualifications:

AWS Certified Database - Specialty or Solutions Architect certification Experience supporting mission-critical, high-volume production systems Knowledge of DevOps/observability tools (e.g., Datadog, New Relic, Prometheus, etc.) * Familiarity with

multi-tenant SaaS environments

or

large-scale applications
