Job Description

To manage enterprise databases such as Oracle, DB2, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server , Sybase, Postgres and MongoDB. Tasks include installing, configuring, maintaning databases, ensuring availability and reliablity of platform. All other DBA responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

• Manage and rollout of database upgrades, security patches releases and hardening
• Provision of system resources to cater for business growth
• Planning for deploying new code , features in the database
• Plan and schedule for technology refresh by tracking future EOS/EOL dates for the databases from the prinicpal vendor
• Work with application team for code deployment
• Work with IT sec team to ensure db are secured , hardened and no open VAPT items
• Install and maintain databases on various OS platforms
• Performs regular housekeeping/maintenance activities on the server infrastructure
• Monitor systems availability, performance and resource capacity
• Follow up on cases raised with Prinicipal database vendor such as Oracle, Microsoft and IBM Support
• Participate in application and infra projects and provide technical inputs
• Maintain and develop technical documentation and standard operational procedures
• Closely monitor performance, identify problems and implement solutions to ensure the database is running at optimum speed and efficiency
• Manage and troubleshoot database replication & backups
• Participate in bank wide DR for all the applications
• Ensure compliance with IT security standards, policies and procedures
• Automate daily operational tasks to improve efficiency using tools or scripts
• Respond to daily service requests and issues
• Ability to monitor and tune databases to meet application needs
• Maintain & analyze the MSSQL server 2008/2012/2014/2016/2017/2019 infrastructure. Well veresed with clustering
• Experienced working on Oracle 11g/12c/19c
• Well versed with MySQL 8 and innodb cluster
• Experienced working on Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS)
• Analyze and optimize performance: indexing stored procedures , partitions, disaster recovery
• Troubleshoot all DB related issues
• Undertake preventive maintanance and monitoring
• Perform system and user adminstrative tasks
• Work with respective internal IT teams to support BAU activities like Deployments, Patching,DR exercise, VAPT fixes etc.
• Work closely with other IT team members to troublshoot system related issues
• Liaise with vendor for support and project delivery
• Strong knowledge about Process management, Change Management and Incident Management.

Qualifications

• A recognized degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or its equivalent. Professional certification will be value added
• Minimum 5 years working experience in database administration
• Responsible for implementation and release of database changes according to agreed timescales and costs
• Establishing, monitoring, maintaining & ensuring backup & recovery procedure and DR procedure are functioning properly
• Perform database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary
• Responsible for performing database restore & recovery request and during DR Exercise
• Vendor management skill to drive vendor in delivering solution to the technical issue encountered
• Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills
• Work effectively in a team environment
