Job Description


What the role is:The National Arts Council seeks an experienced middle manager for its Visual Arts Department. The Deputy Director will lead a team to enable the growth and development of the Singapore Visual Arts Sector through the formulation of policies, strategies & partnerships, and the administration of NAC\'s various support schemes.What you will be working on:Lead the team in the formulation of strategies and interventions to develop Singapore\'s overall Visual Arts sector (e.g. long-term plans for Singapore Biennale and Venice Biennale, strategies to grow Singapore\'s commercial Visual Arts ecosystem, plans for key Visual Art spaces and precincts.Supervise and guide the team in the administration of NAC\'s funding schemes, which includes grant evaluation and administration, processing of disbursements and ensuring good governance and adherence to funding terms and conditions.Supervise and guide the team in providing assessments and sector perspectives for NAC\'s other support schemes such as arts housing, scholarships, public feedback, international relations, etc.Forging new partnerships (e.g. residencies, thought leadership platforms) to provide opportunities for Singapore artists to gain exposure and grow Singapore\'s reputation internationally.Identify opportunities and plan for regular and timely engagements with a wide range of stakeholders in the Visual Arts sector to co-create solutions to achieve policy outcomes.Together with the Director of Visual Arts, oversee the formulation and implementation of the department\'s workplan, KPIs, budget and human resource matters.Facilitate and support the career development plans and aspirations of team members.Keeping abreast of international trends and developments to contribute ideas towards sector and industry development.What we are looking for:\xe2\x80\x8bAt least 10 years of work experience, with prior supervisory experience.Must demonstrate success in project /programme management.Experience in business strategies and development would be an added advantage.Proven ability to negotiate, build sustainable relationships and work proactively with people at all levels to achieve organisation and department objectives.Have strong organisational and management skills.Candidates with relevant experience in Public Sector and arts administration would be advantageous.Good knowledge of the Singapore Visual arts landscape is highly preferred.Proven ability to negotiate, build sustainable relationships and work proactively with people at all levels to achieve project objectives.Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to always maintain a professional approach in often demanding and high-pressure situations with a proven ability of working with the community.Proven ability to actively and collaboratively contribute to a high-performing team which delivers outstanding results, and to constantly seek ways to improve own contribution.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage both internal and external stakeholdersProficiency in effectively using online systems as well as Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.Possess an analytical mind and sense of empathy.A high level of initiative, drive and resourcefulness.Interested applicants are to submit resume and one-page write-up on your interest and involvement in the arts.In the meantime, please track the status of your application on Careers@Gov.About National Arts Council:The National Arts Council champions the arts in Singapore.
