• Gain understanding on the product life cycle from design to production, interact with multiple teams throughout the company
• How different components of the GPU interact with each other and their respective functionality. This is important to understand the relationship between diagnostics code and the hardware blocks exercised.
• Learn different aspects of computer architecture such as virtual memory, DRAM/GDDDR memory and caches.
• Opportunities to learn and develop a mix of Hardware and Software skills

PROJECT OVERVIEW:

• The diagnostics team is responsible for developing tests and suites that validate memory hardware blocks across dGPU, client, server, data centre and SCBU programs. The co-op will support our memory diagnostics development team, where they\xe2\x80\x99ll gain an understanding of all the HW clients that perform memory access requests to drive memory traffic and maximize bandwidth and stress. Their work will become part of production system level tests, system product validation as well as for customer production test leading to the success of AMD products in the market. The Diagnostics suites developed are used in virtually all aspects of the product development lifecycle, from pre-silicon validation through the production life of the product to launching to customer\xe2\x80\x99s platforms.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and debug tests for to validate AMD memory controller hardware designs in pre and post silicon stages:
• Pre-silicon testing and debug of diagnostics on FPGA based HW emulators to verify the functionality of diag tests and root cause failures to SW or HW design defects
• Post-silicon testing and debug of diagnostics to verify diagnostics and HW functionality against test plans and expected HW design functionality. Support debug of production and FA issues to meet aggressive program schedules
• Responsible for development of AMD diagnostics suites and/or diagnostics test code that includes code development in object-oriented languages and/or test suites building, testing, and debugging for production.
• Participate in AMD\xe2\x80\x99s next generation chip bring-up and enable Diagnostics tests for production SLT (system level test) and ASIC qualification suites.
• Works on related projects and/or assignments as required to help with automation and improving productivity/efficiency.

• Good knowledge and experience in software programming (C++, scripting)
• Familiarity with PC and CPU architectures
• Experience with software development and debugging in Linux
• Source control systems (git, svn, etc.)

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

• Computer Engineering/Science Background or EE/EEE
