Job Description


Role Responsibilities

  • The Data and Privacy Transformation Programme, within Group CDO aims to uplift existing processes and controls and to improve customer experience. This role will involve working with the various Business and Functions teams, with 2 nd line Compliance colleagues and technology to design, implement & operationalise capabilities for robust, streamlined and customer centric Data & Privacy management.
  • The successful candidate will work in the Data Sovereignty stream of the Data and Privacy Transformation Programme .
  • Candidates must have demonstrated experience in effective management of Data Sovereignty and / or Data Privacy obligations, in particular demonstrated hands-on experience in operationalising the obligations.
Responsibilities
Build / refine and maintain the data sovereignty management framework which helps identification of scenarios that attract data sovereignty obligation through to meeting the obligations
  • Collaborate with and assist Business and Functions to develop strategic plans for data sovereignty risk management ensuring consistency where relevant
  • Drive awareness about the importance of data sovereignty risk management through education, training and an awareness program
  • Work with Business & Functions and Regions & Countries to plan for the handling of data sovereignty requirements
  • Gather data and documents to analyse and visualise challenges and drive for pragmatic solutions
  • Work with second line risk owner to review, enhance and operationalise the data sovereignty standard
  • Assist in developing and implementing efficient, repeatable and compliant processes for data sovereignty risk management across business units driving for consistency across the group
  • Develop a governance framework and control designs to ensure business units, technology teams and third parties (service providers) follow the data management policy and data sovereignty standard
  • Drive data sovereignty risk mitigation activities
  • Provide consultation and hands-on training on data sovereignty risk management and practices.
  • Maintain awareness of developments, innovations, industry best practices, and changes to regulations in the discipline of data sovereignty
  • Develop metrics / dashboards to track the health of data sovereignty risk within the group to provide management insights

Risk Management
  • A bility to interpret the Group Data management Policy and the associated standards, identify key issues based on requirements as per the standards and put in place appropriate controls and measures
Governance
  • Responsible for assessing the effectiveness of the Data Sovereignty Metrics that are used to assess the overall Data Sovereignty risk exposure of the group. Awareness and understanding of the evolving data sovereignty landscape, in which the Group operates, and the ability to share the requirements and relevant expectations with the various business and functions.

  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. Our Ideal Candidate
  • Bachelor\'s degree or higher qualification with extensive experience in data governance (i.e. privacy and/or data sovereignty risk management)
  • 10 and more years of experience in Banking Industry; 2+ years e xperience in designing and implementing data privacy or sovereignty process and solutions
  • Excellent analytical skills, with strong attention to details and good problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively on cross functional, large scale initiatives in a multicultural environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent understanding of data management and privacy management practices and ability to operationalise requirements into a pragmatic suite of processes and controls
  • A good understanding of global data protection laws and practices preferred
