Job Purpose

Support and advance SMBC Group\'s ESG commitments in APAC.
1. Support sustainable finance deal enablement with RMs and product teams
2. Supporting client engagement for decarbonisation of carbon heavy exposure and drive engagement for new clients in new sector focus areas
3. Being at the forefront of ESG and sustainable finance topics and standards

Job Responsibilities

The candidate will support sustainable finance business development efforts targeting our clients in APAC. Key responsibilities include:

• Collaborate with coverage and product teams in developing credible sustainable finance transactions, from origination to execution
• Support internal review to ensure the quality of the Bank\'s sustainable finance transactions and adherence to industry best practices
• Be at forefront of the sustainable finance market and standard developments by conducting research, collecting, and analyzing information and share those knowledge and insights with clients and internal stakeholders

• Bachelor\'s degree required; advanced degree preferred. Ideally finance / sustainability related.
• Over 5 years of experience in either corporate/investment banking, sustainable finance or ESG advisory
• Knowledge of banking/finance products and terminology
• Familiarity and experience with internal SMBC policies and processes relating to ESG financing
• Basic understanding of sustainability / climate change issues
• Strong understanding and knowledge of either:

• Sustainable finance taxonomy
• Sustainability and climate change issues/opportunities across multiple sectors

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate in a clear and structured manner
• Self-motivated and strong interpersonal skills
• Can demonstrate critical thinking and doesn\'t mind challenging the status quo
• Strong leadership and ability to navigate an evolving landscape for sustainable finance (internally and externally)
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship building (internally and externally)
