Role Responsibilities
Job Purpose You will help drive the Bank’s regulatory agenda and collaborate with colleagues across the Bank to support our strategic direction and growth aspirations. You will do this by focusing on regulatory policy changes that will materially impact SCB. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in

  • helping to design and manage regulatory engagement initiatives
  • understanding regulatory institutions and activities in South East Asia
  • communication - both verbal and written. A high degree of fluency on regulatory issues facing a global Bank and how financial services will be important. The role holder will work on
External Engagement
  • Support the design, implementation and development of an external engagement strategy with the key regulatory policy community, leveraging internal stakeholders and drawing on the wider 'bench' of SCB experts. Represent Standard Chartered externally on regulatory policy issues as needed. Help build the Bank’s relationships with Asian regulatory policymakers.

GPRA sits within Conduct, Financial Crime and Compliance (CFCC), whose vision is Partnering to drive the right outcomes for clients and communities. GPRA works with internal and external stakeholders to drive the alignment of the Bank’s strategy and global public policy, regulatory and supervisory objectives. We are organised into four teams Policy Analysis
  • Identifies, analyses and helps position around developing policy change.
Regulatory Liaison
  • The Bank’s key intermediary to facilitate effective supervisory engagement.
Government Affairs
  • Designs, implements, and manages the Bank’s strategic engagement with policymakers and other external stakeholders.

  • Design, implements, and manages the Bank’s strategic engagement with regulatory policy makers and related external stakeholders.
Regulatory Policy Analysis
  • Work closely with GPRA colleagues to ensure that the Bank has an integrated view of Asian regulatory policymaking environment as they intersect with other global policy centres. Provide timely and insightful assessment of regulatory policy developments in Asia.
Position Development
  • Work closely with business leads to prepare the Bank’s internal and external positions vis-à-vis emerging regulatory policy issues. This includes leading on drafting consultation responses.
Impactful Communication
  • Produce briefings, presentations, speeches for Group senior management of the highest quality and at short notice.
Regulatory and Business Conduct
  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Support Group Regulatory Affairs to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank’s Conduct Principles.
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
  • Live the commitments of our ‘Here for good brand’ promise, acting as a role-model for others.
People and Talent
  • Promote the culture and practice of compliance with compliance standards (including conducting business within regulatory requirements and to high ethical standards) within the Bank and embed a ‘Here for good’ culture and the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Ability to think outside the box and inspire colleagues to collaborate across GPRA and the broader Bank and deliver on a common purpose.
  • Identify opportunities for the team to use technology to improve its analytical capabilities and develop new communication formats.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • 5+ years of experience of regulatory issues in either an international bank, a regulatory body, consultancy or law firm.
  • Thorough understanding of the regulatory policy-making process in Asia.
  • Strong ability to deploy skills into unfamiliar areas of regulation and get up to speed quickly.
  • Demonstrate maturity and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across multiple teams and jurisdictions to achieve results.
  • Operate effectively with limited supervision and self-driven.
  • Excellent writing, presenting, and briefing skills required.
  • Demonstrate leadership and ability to engage with senior internal and external stakeholders effectively.
  • Language skills relevant to the Bank’s operating markets is highly desirable.
