Job Description


Responsibilities

  • Support and contribute to BCAPD management in business planning for CREDIT-Middle Office (Documentation) & Loan Operations, plan and execute business plans to meet the bank\'s values and BCAPD\'s mission and objectives.
  • Challenge the status quo by proactively reviewing processes and controls, identifying gaps and redundant processes, seeking automation/process re-engineering (macro, RPA, OCR, workflow tools) with aim to improve efficiency, institute robust control, mitigate risks and enhance customer\'s experience.
  • Actively engage and manage people-conduct team meetings, setting direction for the team which includes team\'s capacity planning, plan & promote reskill and upskill training to achieve optimal capacity in the group.
  • Provide mentorship, training & assistance to newer members of the team and facilitate bi-annual performance review for the staff including annual pay review and recommendation for promotion.
  • Responsible for new product review, new systems/system upgrade and re-design plans and follow through with planning and participation of UAT till successful implementation.
  • Build and drive data driven decision making capability by participating in regular meetings within BCAPD or with stakeholders. Contribute constructively on operational issues, new requirements, new products, systems, etc.
  • Familiarise with Head Office rules and the applicability to CRA. Have a good understanding of applicable market rules & best practices.
  • Investigate and report discrepancies, info leakage and irregularities arising from transactions, system failure, etc. and resolve issues including managing stakeholder\'s complaints and escalating all issues promptly.
  • Regular review of group procedure manual (BOP) to ensure the group operations is aligned with SMBC policies, audit comments and in compliance to local as well as related overseas law and regulations.
  • Responsible for oversight & governance of offshored processes in line with applicable rules/market practices. Maintain close partnership and collaboration with Shared Service Centre(SSC) by holding regular meetings with SSC to understand issues and work on improvement and to share applicable regulatory updates.
  • Conduct regular review of the group BCP drill test scripts and allocate staff members participation in BCP drills.
Requirements
  • Degree in Banking & Finance or equivalent. Excellent knowledge of Credit Product Documentation / Loans Operations & applicable market best practices.
  • At least 15 years of Banking experience in Credit Documentation & Loans Operations - Syndication loans (Agency and Participation), Bilateral loans, Term, Revolving, etc of which last 3-5 years as Group Head managing a team of more than 15+ staff and offshored processes.
  • Experience in initiating full spectrum of successful business/process re-engineering, transformationand driving sustainable design/solutions.
  • Strong customer service aptitude and resolving escalated cases on priority.
  • Possesses strong analytical, problem solving & judgement skills.
  • Management/leadership experience in operations setting, critical thinking, excellent oral & written communication, managing stakeholders, staff management.
  • Ability to multi task with excellent inter-personal skills including the ability to influence & lead a diverse group of people.
  • Strong people management skill, respectful to colleagues and embrace SMBC values.
