Provide leadership and management of the Biotech plant facility to ensure optimal plant operations
in throughput, quality, cost competitiveness, safety, and compliance. Champion incoming production
and technology transfer activities to bring Biotech operations to full commercial operations.
Manage biotech manufacturing operations to achieve and maintain high-volume, high-quality products in a cost efficient, business and cGMP compliant manner
Realize and achieve key performance metrics such as safe plant operations to meet safety goals and targets, on time delivery, demand schedule and product quality right first time
Lead, guide and develop the Biotech Operations team and support groups in Biotech site by providing in depth knowledge and guidance in manufacturing and regulatory requirements, including cGMP's, regulatory and quality issues to achieve fully compliant operations
Develop and sustain a highly flexible and motivated business unit team. Set direction, strategies, champion innovation, and continuous improvement within the department to take the Biotech Operations function and support functions in Biotech site to successively higher performance platforms
Lead in the systems development of business, quality, safety, process and personnel recruitment, development and succession in Biotech Operations department and support groups in Biotech site
Undertake operational management of department resource requirements, business requirements, budget, operation reviews and long-term planning processes. This includes coordination with support functions such as production planning, purchasing, warehouse, quality, HR, finance, and IT
Partner with site management team to develop business and organizational direction, design, and execution of management strategies
Champion EHS, Business Compliance, cGMP, and all other compliance-related matters, where applicable
Demonstrates accountability and responsibility for EHS and Energy performance and compliance through active participation and support of AbbVie's EHS program. These responsibilities includes:
+ Comply with all safety rules and procedures
+ Communicate to all employee at least semi-annually on EHS issues
+ Provide recognition to employees for positive EHS actions
+ Attend safety council meeting on a regular basis
+ Perform EHS tours at least every six months for environmental, health and safety concerns
+ Ensure operations compliant with applicable environmental laws, regulations, permits, licenses, approvals,
and requirements
+ Complete and required EHS management training
+ Ensure EHS actions related to incidents (injuries, illnesses, environmental incidents) and audit findings (EHS audits, Loss Prevention, and external audits/inspections) are addressed in a timely fashion
+ Promote awareness of issues related to environment, health, safety, energy, and process safety at site
level
+ Provide departmental resources for implementation of process safety management system
+ Demonstrate commitment to continual of process safety performance
+ Review process safety performance and commit for performance improvement
Qualifications
Degree in Engineering, Science or Pharmacy
10+ years manufacturing experience including pharmaceutical mammalian cell culture biotech manufacturing operations
5+ years supervisory experience at managerial level
Able to drive bottom line results throughout organization
Visionary and strategic in approach
Excellent influence management, communication, negotiation, motivation, and organization skills
Strong people manager who can coach, develop others, and manage team dynamics such as conflict resolution, change management
Able to work effectively in teams across departments and with all levels of employees to achieve positive outcomes
