The Director of Procurement is accountable for overseeing vendor performance, enforcing price controls, and managing inventory flow. This role involves streamlining purchasing processes to enhance efficiency, ensuring a seamless supply chain within the organization, and formulating procurement strategies to support optimal service delivery and operations. Additionally, the individual is tasked with evaluating potential risks and implementing new policies and regulatory requirements across the company.
At Capella Hotel Singapore, the Director of Procurement leads all procurement activities, including strategy development and execution, supplier relationship management, contract negotiations, and project-specific procurement initiatives. The individual ensures compliance with all relevant regulations and strict adherence to Capella Hotel Group's policies and procedures.
The Role
Strategic Planning & Management
Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with organizational goals
Monitor market trends to forecast demand and pricing
Establish long-term purchasing plans to ensure continuity of supply
Align procurement goals with operational needs across departments
Vendor & Supplier Management
Source, evaluate, and select vendors based on quality, pricing, reliability, and compliance
Build and maintain strong supplier relationships
Conduct regular vendor performance reviews
Negotiate contracts and service level agreements (SLAs)
Cost & Inventory Control
Ensure cost-effective purchasing without compromising on quality
Monitor and maintain appropriate inventory levels
Implement cost-saving initiatives and value engineering efforts
Oversee inventory audits and reconciliations
Policy, Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure procurement activities comply with internal policies and legal regulations
Assess procurement risks and develop mitigation strategies
Lead the implementation of new procurement policies and procedures
Ensure ethical sourcing practices and sustainability compliance
Team Leadership & Development
Lead and mentor the procurement team.
Delegate tasks effectively and monitor progress.
Conduct performance evaluations and recommend training opportunities.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
Operational Procurement
Oversee the procurement process for all hotel departments including Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, Maintenance, and IT
Manage project-specific procurement (e.g., renovations, new installations)
Coordinate with finance for budgeting and payment approvals
Track purchase orders and delivery timelines
Reporting & Analysis
Prepare regular procurement reports for senior management
Analyze spend data to identify trends and areas for improvement
Use KPIs to measure procurement performance and supplier effectiveness
Recommend improvements based on data-driven insights
Talent Profile:
Diploma in Supply Chain Management or a relevant related field
Minimum 5 years of experience in similar capacity
Prior experience in managing a team
