Director, Store Design and Construction
We are looking for a Director, Store Design and Construction to lead and manage the design and construction of Sephora stores in the SEA region, ensuring alignment with global brand standards and regional business objectives. You will be responsible for ensuring alignment with global brand standards, legal and regulatory requirements, and regional business objectives, while championing innovation, efficiency, and employee wellbeing. The Director, Store Design and Construction will oversee the adaptation and execution of design guidelines, manage projects from concept to completion, and lead a high-performing team of store design and construction professionals. A key focus will be fostering impactful collaboration across cross-functional teams to achieve outstanding results, while adhering to Sephora's policies and brand guidelines, and local laws in SEA.
The role reports directly to the Managing Director, SEA with functional reporting to the Asia Design Director for all creative related matters.

Strategic Leadership and Vision

• Developing and driving the implementation of the store design and construction strategy for Sephora SEA, aligning with our business objectives and overall global guidelines
• Leading strategic planning on CAPEX, providing design and feasibility input on new tenancy sites through the project management team
• Providing thought leadership and guidance on trends, innovations, and best practices for store design and construction, to optimise performance and effectiveness
• Being responsible for brand consistency and elevating the Sephora image in the SEA region through innovative design and high-quality construction

Design and Creation

• Serving as the brand advocate in managing the store concepts roll-out plan in SEA, adapting formats from flagship to standard stores
• Leading continuous adaptation to market-specific needs and preferences, while upholding global brand guidelines and standards
• Being responsible for adherence to Sephora brand guidelines in all store designs, while ensuring the design, including back-of-house design, caters to overall store performance and prioritises employee health and wellbeing
• Updating design guidelines when needed and ensuring clear communicating and efficient execution while participating in any prospective / global reflection or project as it relates to best practice adaptation
• Managing and optimising the design process from brief to completion, providing required documents such as Layout, 3Ds and Schematic Designs
• Initiating, following up and checking all deliverables, controlling and optimising any design solution
• Ensuring alignment with LVMH's recommendations on sustainability and energy saving
• Collaborating with the Fixture Design Department to ensure any fixture evolution is integrated into the store design execution

Construction, Quality Control and Project Management

• Providing strategic leadership, direction, and support to the project management and construction teams, ensuring alignment with business objectives and empowering them to independently deliver high-quality new store and renovation projects from concept to completion
• Being responsible for the selection and management of consultants and contractors, ensuring adherence to design objectives, quality standards, and cost efficiency throughout the project lifecycle
• Being responsible for implementing and ensuring robust quality assurance and quality control processes to ensure all projects meet the highest standards, addressing any non-conformance issues and ensuring proper snag list development and defect resolution
• Being accountable for effective processes are in place for seamless project execution, including taking over premises from landlords
• Ensuring adherence to all relevant local laws, Sephora policies (particularly in areas of procurement and Health & Safety), and regulations
• Driving collaboration with country operations, regional, and country category teams to ensure effective store maintenance and improvement and successful execution of new fixture rollouts, while continuously evaluating and improving design and construction processes

Stakeholder Management and Collaboration

• Building and maintaining strong relationships with cross functional stakeholders to drive impactful collaboration, ensuring synergy and efficiency
• Leading and driving clear communication with regular exchanges with SEA stakeholders to keep them updated and collect feedback
• Leading proactive and regular communication of store design and construction activities in the SEA region to local, regional, and global stakeholders
• Collaborating with the Asia Design Director to ensure alignment with regional design strategies and brand standards

Team Leadership and Development

• Leading, managing, and mentoring the SEA Store Design Team and Construction Team, including Store Designers, Project Managers, external agencies and suppliers
• Assessing, developing, recruiting, and motivating the Store Design Team to deliver outstanding results
• Defining and implementing team priorities and responsibilities, ensuring clear alignment with business objectives

We would love to hear from you if you are/have...

• 15+ years of experience in Retail Design / Retail agencies or Corporate in house / Beauty brand would be preferred
• Proven track record of successfully managing concurrent, fast-moving initiatives
• Creative and pro-active with a deep sense of details, technical solutions and innovation
• Agility to effectively drive innovation with a customer-centric approach
• Strong leadership skills to ensure effective collaboration and high performance
• Strong communication skills with ability to present effectively to senior stakeholders across cultural diversities
• Effective team player across diverse disciplines and cultures
• Stakeholder management and influencing skills in a multicultural environment
• Proficient in CAD / 3D / photoshop / sketch up / hand drawing
• Comfortable with business travel as it is required for the role
