Job Description


The Director, Supply Chain and Commercial Operations, SEATW will be responsible for developing and driving cross-functional and cross-divisional strategic supply chain initiatives in SEATW to improve the ability to meet customer demand while creating an effective and efficient end to end supply chain organization covering Commercial Operations, Demand and Supply Planning, Inventory Management, Customer Service, Order Management & Fulfillment, Domestic Logistics, Supply Chain Technology Requirements & Digitalization (e.g. Control Tower) Implementation, and procurement / replenishment of finished goods from internal and external suppliers, as well as to continually monitor and manage the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for these functions. This role is to provide leadership in delivering high level of service in fulfilling customer orders with safety, accuracy, cost KPI’s and in compliant with the regulatory requirements, as well as implementing various initiatives to drive continuous improvements in operation. This role also works closely with commercial teams to ensure revenue targets for the SEATW are met /exceeded by ensuring flawless execution of local stock and sale businesses as well as direct factory order’s conversion. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position will lead the supply chain and commercial operations team in SEATW. Job Responsibilities:

  • Create the cross-divisional vision and strategy for supply chain across SEATW, establish the footprint, organization structure and team to deliver this strategy, ensuring that best practices are implemented and that the team has market leading skills, this includes alignment to the commercial and product strategies.
  • Strategically build an adaptive demand/market driven supply chain to direct the management and monitor of inventory levels ensuring optimal use of Thermo Fishers inventory investment while maximizing customer fill rate and ensure delivery that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
  • Enable collaboration with other commercial and functional teams in a matrix structure to drive a consistent customer experience across SEATW, ensure KPIs are aligned to overall business goals, including metrics on end-to-end customer experience to continue improve our company’s Customer Allegiance Score (CAS).
  • Drive common processes, disciplines, systems and metrics across the planning function.
  • Manage and oversee the P&L establishing and controlling expense budgets for the Supply Chain and commercial operations team.
  • Create and manage the key performance indicators (KPI) to monitor and drive performance and continuous improvement.
  • Manage relationship with sales and marketing team to provide processes for affecting the inventory plan based upon changes in the marketplace.
  • Lead and facilitate collaboration between manufacturing sites and supply chain functions to maximize customer service while balancing inventory investment and operating expense (operation, value stream).
  • Lead the revenue forecast and backlog management process for each division operating in SEATW. Proactively drive activities to identify and close gaps to the operating plan.
  • Manage the domestic logistics budget and activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement, employ and embrace PPI as a means to improve the efficiency, effectiveness and productivity.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Business Management, Supply Chain/logistics or related field is required. MBA or Masters Degree in supply chain management or related field is strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of relevant multi-discipline work experience, including experience leading quote to cash strategy and its implementation in a supply chain organization.
  • Experience in inventory management, demand planning, customer service and driving a digital strategy and transformation program.
  • Demonstrate ability for developing and executing a business strategy across a variety of facilities supporting multiple divisions.
  • Demonstrate commercial acumen, with a track record in driving customer allegiance.
  • Track record of implementing large scale change programs. Proven experience in change orientation. Strong ownership and self-motivated, ability to drive change management.
  • Ability to lead corporate level continuous improvement initiative through utilization of the PPI business system and ability to drive operational excellence and best practices across the supply chain organization.
  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal and persuasive communications abilities and communication skills.
  • Role model leadership behaviors, ability to lead an organization (and influence others) while actively displaying the company’s 4-I’s – Integrity, Innovation, Intensity and Involvement.
  • Experience in leading teams of managers, with a track records of attracting and developing talent, developing bench strengths and managing a complex, diverse and dispersed workforce.
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrixed environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, financial, P&L skills and flexibility to adapt to fast-paced and rapidly changing environments required to succeed.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time, including international travel.
