Job Description


Responsibility:

The Distributed Control System Technician is responsible for operation and maintenance of control & safety systems, FPSO office servers/PC’s, FPSO networks and PI system installations of the unit, navigation, meteo & telecommunication systems, CCTV, TVRO, VSAT. Particular emphasis is laid on the operation and maintenance of the PSD, ESD, VCS, F&G systems. The Distributed Control System Technician is responsible for ensuring that the day-to-day activities are carried out in a safe and healthy manner and that the impact of such activities on the environment is within acceptable limits. The Distributed Control System Technician is responsible for Track Changes and software backups related to ICCS, IT and ship’s automation.

Specific Duties:

  • Perform condition monitoring, maintenance and troubleshooting of Control Systems, IT and communication systems
  • Perform software maintenance of all relevant systems
  • Software/configurationback-up sets are made on a periodic basis and stored appropriately and safely.
  • Verify that any changes implemented conform to the design and are appropriately tested, software back-ups are made, and drawings have been checked and marked up for as-built status
  • Applies programming necessary for maintaining ICCS system including UCP/LCP PLCes
  • Assist E and I Team in Instrument/Electrical, meter calibration and troubleshooting of various transmitters, control valves and other ER, Electrical, topsides instruments & equipment etc.
  • Responsible for Password integrity of all Control systems. Assign system access levels
  • Passwords are changed at suitable intervals and a list of issued keys and passwords is maintained
  • Administrate Control Systems, Information Technology and communication systems modifications requests under management of change procedure
  • Ensure sufficient stock of spare parts for Control Systems, Information Technology and communication systems
  • Liaise with other departments for coordination of maintenance activities
  • Assist CCR/CRO operator in all DCS and graphics related concerns/problems and tests
  • Liaise with other departments for organization of maintenance activities
  • Assist in pre-commissioning and commissioning
  • Liaise with Control Systems service provider and onshore Electrical & Instrument and Information Technology support
  • Follow PTW system, Prepare Permits. Follow the Permit to work procedures, rules, regulations, and work procedures applicable to his responsibilities
  • Familiar with the Computerized Maintenance Management System. Use the Computerized Maintenance Management System. Produce reports, update records, generate work orders.
  • Prepare required reports
  • Ensure that vendors and contractors are managed safely and effectively
  • On-the-job-training of colleagues and trainees
  • Member of Emergency Response Team
Furthermore, the Distributed Control System Technician must perform the work required by his superior and perform tasks according to company procedures, including administrative or operational tasks.

Qualification Requirements:

General education, certificates and experience: a) Automation Technical education, Electronics or Instrument Technical Education b) Register and valid identification by the Regional Engineering, Architecture and Agronomy Council (CREA) c) Relevant experience d) Fluent English
