Job Description

To design, plan, and deliver a developmentally appropriate Drama CCA training programme that nurtures students' confidence, creativity, and communication skills while aligning with the school's values and MOE's Co-Curricular Activity (CCA) framework. The instructor will inspire students' passion for drama, guide them in stagecraft and performance, and prepare them for internal and external showcases such as the

Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Arts Presentation

and school productions.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Programme Design & Planning



Develop and implement a structured drama training programme (e.g., 30-60 sessions) tailored for students of varying abilities. Ensure the programme integrates skill development in acting, voice, movement, improvisation, and scriptwork. Align lesson objectives with MOE's 21st-Century Competencies, Social-Emotional Competencies, and the school's core values. Plan and document progressive learning outcomes and milestone assessments (e.g., internal performances, evaluations).

2. Instruction & Training



Conduct engaging, student-centred drama sessions that develop creativity, teamwork, and expressive communication. Teach essential theatre elements such as acting, scriptwriting, stage direction, set and costume design, lighting, and sound. Incorporate performance techniques and theatrical conventions through experiential and collaborative pedagogy. Provide differentiated instruction to cater to both beginners and advanced students.

3. Performance & Production Management



Prepare students for

school concerts, assembly showcases, drama festivals

, and external events such as

SYF

. Guide students in devising and performing original works or adaptations, ensuring artistic and ethical standards. Oversee rehearsals, script development, costumes, props, and coordination with the school for technical logistics. Ensure compliance with

intellectual property and copyright

requirements for all materials used.

4. Collaboration & Reporting



Work closely with the

Teacher-in-Charge

and school staff to plan schedules, monitor attendance, and review student progress. Submit termly reports, training outlines, and feedback on student development. Participate in school-related events, meetings, and professional development sessions when required.

Qualifications



Minimum

Diploma

or

Degree

in Theatre, Drama, Performing Arts, or equivalent qualification. Relevant certification in

Drama Education / Theatre Pedagogy

preferred (e.g., NIE, LASALLE, NAFA).

Experience



Minimum

2 years of teaching or directing experience

in Drama CCA, theatre workshops, or stage production. Proven track record in training students for public performances or

SYF Arts Presentation

preferred.
#

Skills & Attributes



Strong understanding of acting methodologies, stagecraft, and theatre production. Excellent communication, classroom management, and interpersonal skills. Passionate about youth development and values education through the performing arts. Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and adapt to school culture and schedule.

Other Requirements



Must adhere to all

MOE and school safety and conduct guidelines

. Must be punctual, responsible, and maintain professionalism at all times. Able to commit to the full training period, rehearsals, and performance events. Relief instructor arrangement must be provided for any absence with prior notice.

Deliverables:
