SIT is looking for a Educational Technologist who will be working in the Centre for Learning Environment and Assessment Development (CoLEAD). CoLEAD supports the academic staff across SIT in their professional development as educators and in the design of learning activities, promoting learner-centric pedagogies and active learning. The Educational Technologist will work mainly with Academic staff, Educational Developers, the IT department and external vendors to promote the effective use of technologies to enhance teaching and learning practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Actively look out, assess and implement educational technology solutions for effective teaching and learning activities;
  • Work with academic staff to identify, experiment with and pilot new solutions for online applied learning and for effective use of educational technologies for face-to-face and online learning.
  • Working with the IT department to integrate selected educational tools with existing platforms / systems in the University.
  • Manage and support the development of software or AR/VR resources for teaching (by working with external vendors or in-house development teams) and securing long term maintenance of such systems.
  • Project management, including phasing and monitoring of budget, updating of milestones and outcomes.
  • Manage procurement processes related to educational technology tools and projects.
  • Reviewing effectiveness of the technology solutions / tools and disseminating findings for wider adoption within the University.
  • Promoting effective solutions for wide adoption with the academic staff
  • Train faculty in the use of educational technology tools for effective teaching and learning. Including the development and delivery of training sessions and user guides.
  • Promote the adoption and use of effective educational technologies with academic staff.

Job Requirements

  • Strong communication skills
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, such as ICT, Software Engineering, Game Design, etc – an advantage
  • Qualifications in instructional design or educational technology – an advantage
  • At least 3 years of experience and strong familiarity with the landscape of educational technology tools.
  • Strong familiarity with software development processes
  • Strong project management and administration skills
  • Experience in facilitation of technical training sessions, preferably at academic institutions.
  • Experience in development of interactive content for training and teaching – an advantage.
  • Familiarity with platforms and standards for online interactive content, such as Articulate storyline, H5P, SCORM, TIN CAN – an advantage.
  • Familiarity with scripting and mark-up languages – an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to identify and communicate technical problems and solutions.
