The Role: Emissions Insight Analyst - Emissions Insight Team

The Team: The Center of Emissions Excellence is responsible for coordinating the emissions and carbon intensity work across S&P Global Commodity Insights. This role will sit within the Emissions Insight Team, within the Centre. The Emissions Insight team is responsible for emission and carbon intensity engagement with internal and external stakeholders/entities, supporting marketing and event activities. The team is responsible for developing and delivering presentations and thought leadership on topics around emissions and carbon intensity, and how it ties to the broader Energy Transition conversation.

The Impact: The Emissions Insight Team has a pivotal role in bringing greater visibility to S&P Global Commodity Insights emissions capabilities, offerings, and views. The team creates, curates, and coordinates S&P Global Commodity Insights cross-commodity emissions and carbon intensity capability and ensure they are delivered in the most effective and insightful manner to our stakeholders. This role is critical to positioning S&P Global Commodity Insights\' world leading emissions capability as the leading voice for commodity and carbon markets alike. The individual in this role is expected to be at the forefront of promoting and identifying opportunities for S&P Global Commodity Insights, as well as gathering market and competitive intelligence.

  • Collaborate with various experts to develop new insight to better understand where, why, how, emissions occur and what can be done about them.
  • Be a leader in Commodity Insights formation and expansion of products and content in the dynamic world of emissions and energy transition - serving as a key link between the internal business lines and commercial teams.
  • Be a thought leader at S&P Global Commodity Insights events
  • Engage with senior Commodity Insights internal executives (commercial, content and product)
  • Meetings and presentations to middle, senior and C-suite managers of major commodity companies and trading houses
  • Meetings and presentations to senior government officials throughout the regions
  • Representing Commodity Insights formally with industry associations
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for external market engagement in the region, gathering and communicating market feedback and voice of customer
  • Responsible for helping drive expansion of our emissions capabilities by promoting Commodity Insights learnings to support market adoption
  • Collaborate to craft thought leadership pieces through written reports and presentations to both internal and external audiences.
  • Be a liaison and drive collaboration with commercial team in the region
  • Identify new market opportunities in emissions and carbon intensity including tracking and reporting proposed rules and regulation developments in the region
  • Identify competitors in the emissions space across different regions and commodities
  • Drive excellence engagement with these new markets and the industry stakeholders.
What We\'re Looking For:
Basic Qualifications
  • Knowledge of emissions and emissions calculations preferred.
  • Previous experience in engaging clients or sources in markets
  • Leadership capabilities with a focus on strong influencing skills and the ability to work in matrix positions.
  • Strategic mindset with strong planning skills
  • Superior communication skills including: Public speaking experience; good listening skills, and strong writing skills are essential
  • Strong critical thinking capabilities
  • Understanding of regulatory issues in the region a plus
  • Multilingual capabilities a plus
  • Willingness to travel
Ability to work across many verticals and manage through influence

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of carbon markets a plus. Fast-learner and self-starter who is capable of quickly becoming an expert in emissions & energy transition.
  • Superior communication skills, particularly writing and presentation
  • Strong leadership and execution skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and other tools
  • Undergraduate degree with master\'s preferable
  • Multilingual desirable
