Civil Engineers use their knowledge of mathematics, physics and engineering to design key infrastructure. They often oversee teams made up of subcontractors, clients, architects and other engineers. Civil Engineers typically have strong skills in project management and leadership, as well as technical competence. A typical working day for a Civil Engineer could include research and design work in an office, before travelling to a construction site to monitor the progress of a project.

Tasks and duties

Undertaking feasibility studies. Developing detailed designs for infrastructure such as roads, buildings, airports and water systems. Designing for sustainability and assessing the environmental impacts of projects. Facilitating site inspections. Preparing project plans. Managing budgets and resources. Coordinating with architects and subcontractors. Must have driving license Must have own transport 3 years exp required * must be able to travel mulitple locations
