What the role is:NEA's Pollution Control 1 Division (PCD1) is responsible for the control of air and water pollution, hazardous substances and toxic industrial waste. The Inspectorate Department (ID) of PCD1 administers the Environmental Protection and Management Act (EPMA) and its Regulations to control air, water and noise pollution, as well as manage hazardous substances and toxic industrial wastes in industrial and trade premises.What you will be working on:You will be assigned to a catchment which consists of various types of industries (e.g. shipyards, pharmaceutical plants, chemical processing and storage installations etc) and will work in a team to administer and enforce pollution control regulations to ensure clean air and clean water. You will be responsible for the following:Inspect trade and industrial premises to ensure that they comply with pollution control, hazardous substances and toxic industrial waste requirementsPerform investigations and carry out enforcement actions with regards to air, water, and noise pollutionExecute air and water sampling programmesRespond to pollution incidents during and after office hoursAttend to feedback from public on pollution mattersAdminister emission monitoring and surveillance systemsWhat we are looking for:Diploma in Chemical engineering, Environmental engineering or Mechanical engineering1-2 years of relevant working experience in chemical-related industries or engineering-related fieldsA good team player with strong interpersonal skillsMeticulous with an eye for detailMature, independent and resourcefulPreferably possess Class 3 driving licenceAble and willing to work on weekends and after office hours on occasions when neededAs part of the shortlisting process for this role, you may be required to complete a medical declaration and/or undergo further assessment.Applicants will be updated on the status of their applications within 4 weeks of the closing date of this job posting.About National Environment Agency:The National Environment Agency (NEA) is the leading public organisation responsible for ensuring a clean and sustainable environment for Singapore.
