Job Description

What the role is:
As an Engineer / Senior Engineer in the Coastal Protection Department, you will be part of a team to develop strategies and engineering designs for protecting the Singapore's coast against coastal flood risk due to rising sea level and more intense rainfall.
What you will be working on:
Your job role will include, but is not limited to the following: o Planning for engineering studies, including define scope, secure funding, engage stakeholders to incorporate their inputs and development plans and prepare tenders (including tender calling, evaluation and award) to carry out engineering studies. o Administrating and managing engineering studies, including work with engineering consultants to ensure that engineering studies are carried out professionally to meet coastal protection requirements, engage stakeholders on the recommended coastal protection measures and drive delivery/schedule to ensure studies is completed in time and within budget. o Administrating site investigations, surveys and/or construction contracts, including secure funding, prepare and call tenders (including evaluation and award) for construction work, partner engineering consultants to ensure works are carried out in compliance with the contract specifications and agencies' regulations and codes of practice, track projects' progress to ensure works are completed in time and within budget.
What we are looking for:

  • Degree in Civil or Environmental or Coastal Engineering o Candidates with working experience in coastal engineering, urban planning; integrated multifunctional design; and engineering design of structures in coastal environments (pump stations, barrages, dams, sea walls etc) are preferred o Candidates with engineering experience in planning, design, project management and site supervision for civil (drainage & reservoir) projects, coastal engineering, land reclamation and/or coastal infrastructure projects are preferred o Good knowledge of Singapore's coastal conditions, coastal-related regulatory and planning frameworks as well as governing bodies for coastal related developments o Good knowledge of various coastal protection methods as well as numerical modelling of coastal processes o Good knowledge of coastal inundation risk assessment as well as decision-making processes such as cost-benefit analysis and multi-criteria decision analysis o Good knowledge of environmental impact assessments / studies, including environmental baseline surveys o Proficient in basic Microsoft Office suite software and knowledge in Geographic Information System (GIS) platforms, applications and interfaces as well as Building Information Modelling (BIM) is preferred o Strong communication, analytical, writing and presentation skills o Self-motivated and driven o Works well independently and also a good team player Work Location: Environment Building, 40 Scotts Road S(228231)
