MDPI Singapore was established in February 2021, as the Asia-Pacific regional centre of the Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute (MDPI), a pioneer publisher that focuses on open access journals. Taking advantage of Singapore as the global business and technology hub, the Singapore office will work closely with our offices in China, Tokyo and Thailand to develop further collaboration with the scientific community in the Asia-Pacific area.The RoleArea: Editing and Academic PublishingMDPI is the largest open access publisher in the world, with over 400 journals across a wide range of disciplines. Our mission is to foster open science and scientific exchange by delivering high-quality peer-reviewed research to scholars around the globe. The English Editing Department works to ensure that all of MDPI\xe2\x80\x99s manuscripts are published with clarity, consistency, and grammatical accuracy.The Role: English EditorWe are looking for meticulous and dedicated individuals with a strong grasp of the English language and the nuances of academic writing to support scholars publishing their research. English Editors support academic research by editing the language of peer-reviewed papers to a publication-ready standard.This is a full-time, in-office, entry-level position based in Singapore. Successful applicants undergo a probation period in which in-house training is provided by an experienced editor, after which there are opportunities to diversify the role and gain expertise in new areas.Responsibilities

  • Edit scholarly articles submitted to MDPI journals to a publication-ready standard.
  • Apply knowledge of the English language and the context of the manuscript to make the English clear, consistent, and grammatically correct, communicating the author\xe2\x80\x99s message without changing their voice unnecessarily.
  • Ensure manuscripts align with MDPI\xe2\x80\x99s house rules.
  • Meet tight deadlines and hit targets with a high degree of consistency.
  • Take on additional roles, such as training colleagues within and outside of the department and editing corporate material.
  • Collaborate with members of Editorial and Production teams.

  • A bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in any subject.
  • Expert knowledge of the English language.
  • Experience in editing, translating, or publishing.
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of an international team.
  • Right to work in Singapore.
Desirable skills and experience:
  • Professional experience in academic research, editing, or publishing.
  • A master\xe2\x80\x99s, PhD, or equivalent qualification.
  • Familiarity with LaTeX.
  • Experience working in an office environment.
