The Group:Morningstar is one of the largest independent sources of fund, equity, and credit data and research in the world, and our advocacy for investors\xe2\x80\x99 interests is the foundation of our company. Morningstar\xe2\x80\x99s Equity Research group provides independent analysis on individual securities, covering at least 1,500 stocks globally with offices in the U.S., Europe, Australia and Asia.The Role:Our equities research group is seeking an analyst to be based in either Hong Kong or Singapore to cover Japanese leisure, internet retail and gaming companies. This coverage list includes Oriental Land, Capcom and Rakuten. As these are Japanese based companies, Japanese fluency is mandatory in addition to English. Prior relevant experience as an analyst is an advantage. We also see those with experience investing in these industries to have the necessary experience.The role requires strong English communication skills, and a keenness in undertaking research, developing and supporting an opinion and sharing this with clients. The candidate must be passionate about uncovering attractive equity investments and be willing to travel.Responsibilities:

• Produce value-added research that encompasses both the determination of a fair value estimate and a thorough examination of the company\xe2\x80\x99s competitive position.
• Build valuation models on coverage companies primarily utilizing Morningstar\xe2\x80\x99s discounted cash flow based valuation model.
• Help our clients make better informed investment decisions. Publish and share impactful, value-added research that demonstrates well-thought out opinions and action-oriented recommendations backed up by fact and data.
• Work with others in Morningstar to build our brand.

Requirements:

• Be able to communicate well in English and Japanese with strong English writing skills.
• Minimum of bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree while a CFA designation is considered favorably. The candidate should be able to think critically, independently and with attention to detail and the facts.
• Experience as an analyst, fund manager or banker making investments to or lending to the internet retail and gaming industry is preferred. The candidate should have at least 3 years relevant work experience in the afore mentioned capacity.
• Work well within a team and be capable of respectfully accepting and providing constructive feedback.
• Make timely decisions under demanding deadlines, sometimes with incomplete information.
• Have an interest in developing financial modeling skills together with knowledge of business valuation techniques.
