The Excavator Operator is responsible for operating excavators and other heavy equipment to perform earthmoving, trenching, grading, and excavation work safely and efficiently at construction or infrastructure sites. The operator ensures that work is carried out according to safety standards, project plans, and specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate excavators to dig, grade, and move earth, rock, sand, and other materials as directed.
Load materials into trucks or dump areas safely and accurately.
Perform trenching, backfilling, leveling, and site preparation work according to drawings and instructions.
Inspect and maintain the excavator daily to ensure it is in good working condition.
Report any mechanical issues, malfunctions, or safety hazards to the supervisor.
Follow all workplace safety and traffic management procedures.
Assist in positioning and guiding ground workers to ensure safe excavation.
Operate other heavy machinery (if certified) such as loaders or bulldozers when required.
Maintain records of daily operations, fuel usage, and maintenance activities.
Skills and Qualifications:
Minimum education: Primary or secondary school education (basic literacy and numeracy skills).
Certificate requirement (Singapore):
Possess a valid WSQ Certificate in Operate Excavator (under Construction Safety Orientation Course for Workers - Excavator Operation).
Must hold a valid Excavator Operation Permit (LTA/BCA recognized).
Experience: At least 2 years of experience operating excavators or heavy machinery in construction or civil engineering projects.
Good understanding of site safety practices and machine controls.
Ability to work independently and follow site supervisor's instructions.
