[What the role is]
The department plans and carries out the engineering design and development of infrastructures for collection of general waste and disposal of waste treatment residues, and redevelopment of closed landfills. You will be part of the Landfill Development branch in charge redevelopment of closed landfill. You will be required to work closely with various stakeholders in the government & private sectors.
[What you will be working on]
The Executive/Senior/Dy Principal Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the operational readiness of waste infrastructure. He/she will be part of the operations team to leading a team of engineering executives and specialists to ensure safe and optimal operation of waste infrastructure. The key responsibilities in this post include conducting engineering feasibility studies, environmental impact assessments, planning, design/financial review and formulate programme/action plans. He/she will be responsible to call/administer tenders that are undertaken by the team. For projects with construction phases, he/she will have to supervise and lead a team of engineers to ensure a timely implementation of the development.
Oversee the development of the various development projects, obtain planning approval and funding support.
Plan and implement project schedules in accordance to contract and requirements.
Oversee and manage and administer the procurement process to select and appoint project consultants and contractors.
Manage consultants in carrying out feasibility/prelim design/detailed design studies.
Supervise and manage consultants/contractors to ensure that the waste infrastructures are developed in a timely and cost-effective manner, in compliance with the tender requirements.
Plan and manage funding and budget planning cycles for projects.
Work and liaise with various internal and external stakeholders of projects.
Develop, coordinate, and maintain plans and exercises to ensure operational readiness of waste infrastructure.
Develop, maintain, and update capability building management framework to ensure sustained knowledge for the operation and maintenance of waste infrastructure.
Monitor and assess storage needs of contaminated waste and developments overseas to ensure robust design and safe operation of waste infrastructure.
[What we are looking at]
Engineering graduates are welcomed to apply.
Degree in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering with 3-5 years of experience in development and construction project management would be advantageous
Knowledge in project management, environmental impact assessment, environmental baseline study, building plans and engineering drawings would be advantageous
A good team player with strong interpersonal skills
Mature, independent, resourceful, and highly self-motivated
Adaptable to diverse work scopes
Good written and spoken communication skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
