About the Department
Group Technology and Operations (GTO) provides software and system development, information technology support services and banking operations.
We have centralized and standardized the technology components into Singapore, creating a global footprint which can be utilized for supporting our regional subsidiaries and the branches around the world. We operate and support 19 countries with this architecture to provide a secure and flexible banking infrastructure.
Our Operations divisions provide transactional customer services for our businesses while also focusing on cost efficiency through process improvements, automation and straight through processing.

Job Responsibilities
Reporting to Group Head of Wholesale Banking & Markets T&O (Team responsible for Business Partnership & Operations), you will play dual role - Support strategic planning and governance support for the entire team in collaboration with/directly working with Senior Executive Directors of segment leads and/or operations unit heads and provide leadership & governance oversight on Overseas Branch Operations.
He/she will work hand in hand with internal GTO stakeholders such as Head of IT delivery teams, Head of Enterprise Support Services, COO Office, Project Portfolio Managers, HR Team leads, Finance Team leads and Operations Unit Heads.
Details of the functional areas this role is accountable for and directly works on include:
Efficiency and Performance Management:

  • Measurement and tracking of KPI / scorecard to ensure accurate planning and alignment to overall GTO / Business Segment plan
  • Responsible for month Function efficiency tracking & reporting to management team
  • Provide regular accurate updates to GWBGM Biz T&O MT on performance; ensure that issues are escalated in a timely fashion, with clear actions, timeline and ownership for such escalations are agreed & closed
Financial Management:
  • Department Budget owner for Headcount, validate HC requests and approve, ensure department stays within budget
  • Lead and coordinate the budget forecasting and planning cycles in line with timeline as defined by Group Finance
  • Regular review of department cost performance report with Finance and ensure delta managed effectively
  • Lead department Cost Management Initiatives
Business Management:
  • Streamline Business Management MI, Aligning MI to key scorecard metrics, business outcomes
  • Support discussions and decision making at various forums / committees attended by GWBGM Biz T&O Head
  • Track, follow up and manage the team activities to a successful delivery including support on the management actions from GWBGM Biz T&O MT
  • Track special strategic business initiatives / projects on behalf of the line manager
  • Facilitate reports, presentations, papers and review material to support discussions and decision making at various forums.
  • Work with Segment T&O Heads and Programme Managers to streamline, standardise project approval presentations at a C-level standard
Initiatives Management:
  • Ensure design & delivery of the strategic programs deliver the business strategy and agreed KPIs
  • Bring significant technology & understanding of agile methodologies, new ways of working acumen into design and implementation of transformation & change initiatives
  • Drive execution of special strategic programmes that cut across Group & Countries, Across Business Segments
Communication and Staff Engagement:
  • Townhall Planning & Presentation preparation in collaboration with segment / operation leads
  • Offsite planning (including agenda setting) and preparation
  • Set best practice templates
Job Requirements
Technical Skills & Experience
  • A minimum 15 to 18 years of experience in Banking / Financial Services IT and/or Business consulting domain
  • Strong business acumen, wholesale banking technology & operations domain
  • The candidate must have track record of operating as Business Manager, COO Office, Business Consulting with hands on experience in the areas of C-level presentation preparations, Management Reporting, Strategy and Planning activities, Financial Management, Workforce Management and Process and Governance
  • Strong leadership / inter-personal skills to deputise Function Head time to time
  • As this is a critical position, he/she is expected to build strong working relationship and partnership with members of the internal team as well as outside Business / Support Function Teams, to effectively provide timely response to management requests
  • Banking IT experience, with sensitivity and commitment to business problem solving
  • Strong collaborative skills and proven ability in building relationships across diverse stakeholder groups
  • Strong organisation and facilitation skills, experience in interfacing with senior management and technical support team alike
  • Able to thrive in fast-paced dynamic environment, able to adapt to rapidly changing priorities and demand from senior management
  • Able to adapt and work in ambiguous situation and provide thought leadership to broader teams
  • Good analytical skills, positive attitude, good learning ability with greater attention to details and ability to multitask
  • Self-motivated, self-starter, demonstrated ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Comfortable challenging ideas and working with disparate groups to bring consensus; experienced negotiator & skilled in conflict resolution
  • Business domain knowledge in Wholesale Banking, Global Markets, Asset Management areas
  • Distinctive blend of business, IT, financial and communication skills, as this is a highly visible position with substantial impact
  • Good understanding of current and emerging technologies and how other enterprises are employing them to drive digital business
Education
  • Mater's or Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, finance or similar domain
  • Related professional/technical qualification will be advantageous
