Job Description

[What the role is] You will be part of a team of officers responsible for the processing of licence applications for food establishments, assess submitted proposal based on food safety considerations, conduct pre-licensing check of the premises to verify the layout and set up are in accordance to licensing requirements, and recommend granting of licence when all the licensing requirements are met.
[What you will be working on]

• Assess the food establishment licence applications, which includes:

• Conducting site assessment
• Evaluating the architectural layout plan, process flows and particulars of products
• Verification checks at the premises and make recommendations whether to grant a SFA licence to the applicant
• Provide guidance to applicants on interpretation of the licensing requirements.
• Attend to public enquiries on licensing-related matters.
• Work with relevant agencies and engage them on issues related to licensing of food establishments
• Participate in the review of work processes and standard operating procedures pertaining to licensing of food establishments.
• Preparation of licensing reports and provide data analysis to suss out issues that could potentially affect our effectiveness and service delivery to the licence applicants.
• Be involved in initiatives, projects and assignments that are directly or indirectly related to core duties and/or personal development.

[What we are looking for]

• Preferably possess a recognised Polytechnic Diploma in Food Technology/Food Science/ Biology/Biotechnology or other Science-related discipline.
• Detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and taking initiative.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Good team player with well-rounded interpersonal skills to work with stakeholders in the public and private sector.
• Willing to work outside office hours on occasion.
• Candidates with previous working experience in the food industry will have an added advantage, but not necessary.
