Chief Corporate Affairs Office

Inmarsat\'s Chief Corporate Affairs Office (CAO) oversees three areas - Company Secretarial, Legal and Compliance. We cover a wide range of areas including worldwide legal issues, company compliance, Inmarsat plc Board services, risk management, export control issues, as well as management of all share schemes.



Primary role purpose:

The Export Control Officer will support the Senior Export Control Manager APAC and work with a wide range of internal and external customers to support compliance and best practice in activities such as the Export Compliance programme for Inmarsat\'s global business, being involved in aspects of Singapore Export Controls, U.S. ITAR, Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Australian Export Controls and any other applicable national regulations to support temporary exports such as trials and demonstrations. The successful candidate will also provide support to the Senior Manager APAC on the administration associated with such compliance for other Inmarsat Group policies including the Group Legal Compliance Programme, Competition Policy, Sensitive Information Policy, and similar related policies.

This is a part-time role that requires candidate to work 2.5 days a week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Senior Export Control Manager as a point of contact for the administration and control of the export of controlled goods, software, and technology, including associated communications to affected parties, to provide the best possible support to any affected business process or transaction.
  • Supporting the Senior Export Control Manager to release the compliance blocked transactions in SAP.
  • Be the \xe2\x80\x9cgo-to\xe2\x80\x9d person for initial queries on export advice from Inmarsat Business unit.
  • Support the Compliance team by performing Know Your Customer (KYC) checks.
  • Coordinate and follow-up with the Senior Export Control Manager on matters requiring continued diligence and/or follow-up.
  • Ensure that policies and procedures are incorporated into affected processes, and all required registrations are properly maintained.
  • Provide admin support to maintain records of all export control transactions in accordance with Singapore and US government regulations.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all applicable regulations affecting Singapore, Australia, New Zealand and APAC region.
  • Work well as part of a small team which incorporates multiple functions within it.
  • Provide admin support to the competition compliance activities including maintaining training records for local staff.
  • Provide and maintain metrics as defined by the Senior Export Control Manager.
  • Conduct annual self-assessments to identify gaps and areas of risk across all areas of involvement and communicate these to the Senior Export Control Manager.
  • Support the Senior Export Control to perform internal export control audits on each of Inmarsat\'s APAC exporting hubs, including Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand.
  • Support the Senior Export Control Manager on specific projects as appropriate.
Qualifications

Essential Knowledge and Skills:
  • A Degree in Supply Chain or Economics, with specialization within the area of exports/trade is preferable
  • Knowledge and experience required to understand and provide guidance regarding requirements of exporting and importing dual-use and defence articles and services under
  • Singapore/APAC regulation
  • International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR),
  • Export Administration Regulations (EAR),
  • Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC),
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in Export Control
  • Excellent English skills, both orally and in writing
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Meticulous with a great attention to detail
