Our Facilities Manager is responsible for the daily maintenance of the school campus and related safety aspects. They ensure that all aspects of the school physical plant are running safely and efficiently. This role will manage the relationships with our external service providers. A successful candidate will be an experienced team player who brings enthusiasm and a proactive mindset. Main Responsibilities:
Develop and manage a planned preventive maintenance schedule, undertaking the responsibility of maintenance work with safety as a priority and so as not to disrupt the school day.
Develop and implement an inspection regime to ensure that all statutory and advisory inspections are undertaken, recorded and actions implemented - proactively inspecting all facilities of the school including eg. classrooms, staff offices, pools, gymnasium, sports grounds and other play areas.
Develop a system to initiate and record regular maintenance checks and submit regular reports; identifying recurrent issues and patterns and implement long term solutions.
Schedule, manage and supervise daily works of both in house and external maintenance and service staff. Prioritise work on a need basis after consultation with the relevant stakeholders.
Liaise with:
outside contractors to manage elevators, fire and emergency systems, landscape, waste disposal, pest control, etc. to ensure the school facilities/grounds are well maintained.
cleaning contractors and their school-based supervisor to ensure that their cleaning and hygiene standards meet the school\xe2\x80\x99s expectations including contract management.
Security Contractor on all security related issues to ensure compliance with policies on safety, security and child protection.
various local and government authorities as needed.
Obtain competitive quotes from vendors and suppliers for maintenance and facilities upgrades, ensuring value for money and affordability within allocated budgets.
Monitor effectiveness of all contracted works.
Manage purchases and stock related to repairs and maintenance in accordance with financial protocols and allocated budgets. Report concerns and recommend solutions.
Audit energy usage on the school campus and recommend energy saving solutions.
Assist with the planning, organization and management of school events such as Founder\xe2\x80\x99s Day and off campus events like student exhibitions.
Act in accordance with relevant legislation in Singapore, as well as UK guidelines, particularly with regards to educational provision, health and safety initiatives and child safeguarding.
Oversee the maintenance of the school\xe2\x80\x99s swimming pool
Manage all repairs to furniture and related assets including storage.
Oversee all porterage services including managing the manpower and planning
Collaborate with relevant department heads and recommend Health & Safety initiatives when necessary.
Safeguarding:
Abide by the school safeguarding policy and keep abreast of any changes.
Qualifications/Skills
Degree and above in Electrical / Mechanical / Building Services or equivalent
At least 5 years of relevant experience in managing similar facilities or in a school setting, in a supervisory position
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, to engage stakeholders from diverse backgrounds
Meticulous, resourceful and with a strong sense of initiative
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
Willing to work beyond normal working hours when needed
