Job Description


Summary of Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible in up keeping, monitoring and maintaining of all Landscape, Horticulture and Pest Control related maintenance to ensure that the property is always kept in the highest standards & performance.
  • Responsible to uphold the Landscape & Horticulture design intent incorporate with MBS branding achieving a balance between natural and built environments that are aesthetically pleasing as well as appropriate, sensitive sustainable & practical.
  • To lead, plan & manage all preventive, corrective & maintenance of related system and ensuring smooth operations with industrial best practices and Government guidelines.
  • He should be comfortable with logical deduction and inferential decision-making, process-oriented and comfortable in tailoring established processes for specific requirements. He must also be collaborative and comfortable in providing coaching and guidance to team members.
  • Review & Implementation of new technology for productivity, sustainability and constant improvement
Job Responsibilities

Technical Competency
  • Ability to evaluate architectural and landscape designs from a horticultural perspective with a view to determine the horticultural impact.
  • Knowledge & experience in health assessment of landscape & trees, & use of chemicals.
  • Knowledge on soil and media as well as drainage requirements in the implementation of maintenance programs & projects.
  • Knowledge on tree & plants selection for landscape and recommending alternatives for unavailable and unsuitable species.
  • Design tree & plants care plans and Standard Operating Procedures(SOPs) for landscape maintenance
  • Certificate in Pest Management & control
  • ISA Certified Arborist.
  • Knowledge of pump operation & piping hydraulic, irrigation & drainage systems and equipment maintenance.
  • Plan & execute external contract works as assigned by immediate supervisor to ensure their works are compliant with the required specifications and standards so as to meet objectives
  • Monitor the day to day work progress of all defects rectification; identify any equipment defect, and review the corrective actions required immediately.
  • Lead in inspecting & taking over of new development and consolidating punch list & defects clearing process
  • Review Maximo data to identify areas of improvements & productivity
  • Responsible for implementing and enforcing safe work practices based on the Risk Assessment
  • Creating, review & refine SOPs
  • Able to read & understand CAD drawings.
Functional Competency
  • Oversee both the landscape & pest control maintenance master plan and the in house team, contractors, workers who implement it.
  • Work closely and liaise with all departments & business units in property on project and maintenance coordination to minimize disruption
  • Plan & strategized the maintenance regime and ensure all jobs are correctly and properly achieved within standards & SOPs.
  • Conduct regular updates with facilities senior management, internal stakeholder & business unit on KPI & the overall outlook of the landscape & property pest control.
  • Conduct regular meetings and coordinate with the maintenance contractor to resolve and improve the service level of relevant systems.
  • Review resource, labor, and inventories including all essential equipment, tools, spares and supplies for the team and ensure that proper spares and supplies inventory are kept and updated regularly.
  • 24/7 stand-by for emergency call outs and performing of weekend facilities duty executive
  • Conducting of performance appraisal of all team members under supervision
  • Manage & conduct Vendor performance review & provide a report together with appropriate recommendation to the senior management
  • Review and streamline all purchase requests with procurement department
  • Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and within the realm of the company vision, mission and values
  • Ensure that all essential records of landscape, pest control maintenance, replacement sanitizing or rectification works are documented properly and stored
  • Drive adherence to established safety standards and protocol for horticulture & pest control implementation and maintenance
  • Preparation of tender documents, scope of work and specifications
  • Perform ad-hoc tasks as required
  • Execute strong attention to details
Leadership Competency
  • Provide leadership, supervision & guidance to a team of Manager/ Assistant Manager/Supervisor/technicians to deliver quality up-keeping of all landscape & Pest control related areas for the entire MBS complex
  • Planning, detailing, reviewing and assessing of manpower, materials, tools and equipment, special services required for the job.
  • Take over responsibilities as and when the Director/Chief Engineer/ Assistant Chief Engineer is not available
  • Development of Team members through capability development and coaching
  • Implement effective performance management practices within department in accordance with organizational policies and procedures
  • Monitor budgets, forecasting, work allocations and staffing of the departments
  • Enforce & implement all safety programs and training with regards to WSH
  • Provide, review & conduct training and orientation programs for Team Members
  • Ensure compliance for direct report performing their duties in Casino & areas that is zone as casino boundaries.
  • Project Management functions & skillsets, includes project set up, preparation of scope of work, resource & scheduling management.
Job Requirements
  • Degree in arboriculture, horticulture.
  • Certified practicing horticulturist (CPH)
  • More than 15 years of solid hands-on practical working in any integrated resorts, hospitality or large complex.
  • Working knowledge of CRA compliance requirement and understanding of local regulations, standards and ordinances on operations and maintenance of landscape, irrigation system & pest control will be advantageous.
  • Knowledge on Nparks & NEA practices in terms of seeking approval and submission procedures to all government agencies and authorities will be advantageous.
  • Be able to work outdoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to fatigue, noise, dust, and be able to access all areas of the property including those at height
  • Able to work rotating shift, perform standby duties including weekend & public holidays and able to work perform under minimum supervision
  • Able to work under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • As this is an operational role, it may involve frequent prolong standing, stretching, bending and kneeling.
  • Able to converse and write in English
  • Strong computer knowledge of IBM Maximo System and Microsoft Office.
