Job Description


The Finance Operations Managaer, Asia based in Singapore provides an overview of the Finance Operations for the Asia offices in Hong Kong, Singapore and in China (Shanghai, Beijing and Chongqing). The scope of the role includes; financial planning and analysis, control, regulatory compliance, Accounts Payable and expenses, payroll, trust accounting and banking relationships. The role will be the first point of contact for Partners and Practices on most of their finance related requests. It is a great opportunity for career progression either from within the professional services sector and/or for those with transferable skillsets looking to get into Legal Services.

This role reports to the Head of Financial Control, Operations & Planning, APAC, but will work closely with the APAC Regional heads of Working Capital and Business Performance

Key responsibilities and objectives

Oversight of a team delivering the following operational activity:

  • Financial Planning & Analysis - month end close, management reporting, budgeting and forecasting
  • Financial Control - GL maintenance, account ownership and reconciliation to source, intercompany accounting, regulatory filings, statutory audit, trust account audit, payment approvals and other delegated authorities
  • Regulatory compliance - Corporation Tax, GST, Employment taxes and, to a lesser extent, individual income tax
  • Accounts payable and expenses
  • Monthly payroll payments and reconciliations; Partner payments
  • Trust accounting
  • Banking relationships and controls.
Essential skills and experience
  • Minimum of 2 years\' experience in a role of similar scale and complexity e.g. annual revenue at c$60m and 200 full time employees
  • CA/CPA Qualified
  • Self-motivated with good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of an international organisation
  • Flexible with the ability to meet tight deadlines and manage competing priorities
  • Has a positive approach and attitude, shows high levels of initiative and enthusiasm
  • Highly numerate & analytical with excellent attention to detail
  • Previous experience in a law firm or a professional services environment would be advantageous
  • A knowledge of Thomson Reuters Elite 3E would be advantageous but not essential.
