It’s who we are. Role Summary: We are recruiting this Finance Analyst role within Pearson Finance Services (PFS) to support the Finance Team of one of the divisions in APAC. This role will prepare and deliver financial planning and analysis to business areas enabling effective business decision making. This role will also be expected to contribute to aspects of the budgeting and forecasting cycle. To succeed in this role, you will be required to:

  • Complete all deliverables in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner
  • Understand data sources and data flows and how financial and non-financial data are presented effectively
  • Apply analytical skills to ensure the accuracy and relevance of outputs needed by the business are achieved
  • Contribute to team effort and assist colleagues across PFS and other business divisions as necessary to effectively deliver support and services
  • Help create a collaborative working environment that fosters the culture of supporting one another
  • Maintain customer satisfaction by delivering requests from customers and proactively offering support as deemed necessary
  • Identify opportunities for continuous process improvement and innovative solutions and communicate these to your line manager
Responsibilities:
  • Perform month-end closing activities including preparation of journal entries on accruals and adjustments.
  • Prepare monthly reports and other ad hoc reports to support accurate reporting and business decisions
  • Assist in the preparation of variance analysis and other ad hoc analysis against performance targets
  • Support in the planning, budgeting, and forecasting cycles through the preparation of analysis and system loads and close collaboration with business partners and stakeholders
  • Complete all activities in a timely manner with quality and accuracy
  • Take proactive involvement in determining and implementing best practices within the team and eventually across the wider organization
  • Reconcile data between source Enterprise Resource Planning (ERPs) and consolidated reporting tools (Oracle/Hyperion) and seeking explanations for significant variances
  • Assist in the preparation of audit and compliance requirements for internal and external parties
Desirable Skills/Capabilities:
  • A self-starter who is motivated to work under own initiative; demonstrating a strong desire to learn and ability to make sound judgement
  • With good understanding of finance and accounting, preferably with background on planning, budgeting, and forecasting; fresh graduates and professionals with lesser experience are also encouraged to apply
  • With strong prioritization skills and can identify and understand data flow and process dependencies
  • Strong accounting knowledge and familiarity of accounting concepts
  • Good command of Microsoft Office suite, preferably an advanced user of Excel (v-lookups, sum-ifs, pivot tables etc.)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with both internal and external parties
  • Preferably with experience in finance ERP systems (Oracle preferred but not essential)
  • Adaptive to changes and can thrive and grow in a dynamic environment, showing a positive can-do attitude and mental outlook of optimism
  • Ability to work as part of a team, identifying and providing support to colleagues
  • Agility to work and meet strict deadlines
