Role Responsibilities
This role is a key position within the Data Strategy Team entrusted with the responsibility of business managementof Data Products used in financial risk management, particularly the Critical Reporting Elements.
The role holder will be the financial risk management SME in the team, with a deep understanding of both the sourcing system, and the business Risk management process that uses of the data:

  • Ensuring coherence use of the Data elements across reports and MI Dashboards
  • Act as Risk data SME and advisor for the different ongoing projects and future advance analytics projects.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for key stakeholders. Including the Credit Reporting Team and the Head of Risk Management in Credit Risk, the role holder is expected to drive strategies for data management while supporting the CDO\'s Risk agenda.
  • Own the Business Definition of the data products will be completed for 100% for the 32 in-scope critical risk metrics (CRM) or critical data elements (CDE) in the Wholesale Credit, (Risk treatment plan for Whole Credit Reporting)
Strategy
  • Devise and drive the execution of comprehensive process and strategies to maintain accuracy and consistency in financial risk reporting.
Align these data management strategies with the overall business model and strategy, considering market trends and internal business objectives. Business
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the business, economic, and market environment in which the Risk Group operates, use this understanding to influence data management practices.
Processes
  • Solid understanding of data gathering process and verification, and management processes to ensure the accuracy and consistency of Critical Reporting Elements across various reports. Implement and manage operational risk controls related to data management, in line with the Group\'s Operational Risk Framework.
People & Talent
  • Lead by example, fostering a culture of accuracy, consistency, and regulatory compliance within the data management team.
  • Set clear expectations and establish a positive working environment. Develop and implement a robust training program to upskill team members in data management competencies. Ensure succession planning and capacity planning are in place.
Risk Management
  • Proactively identify, assess, monitor, control, and mitigate any data-related risks that could potentially affect the Group.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the primary risks facing the Group in relation to data accuracy and consistency for financial risk management and devise strategies to manage these risks effectively
Governance
  • Establish, implement, and oversee robust governance structures for data management, ensuring full compliance
  • with both internal Group policies and external regulatory requirements.
  • Keep abreast of changes in governance, oversight, and controls related to data management and swiftly implement necessary adjustments
Regulatory & Business Conduct
  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group\'s Values and Code of Conduct .
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.

  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
Key stakeholders
  • Serve as the main liaison for the Reporting Team, the Head of Risk Management in Credit Risk and other key stakeholders, ensuring transparency and communication regarding data accuracy standards and protocols.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with these stakeholders, working collaboratively to achieve shared objectives and resolve any issues promptly while supporting the CDO\'s Risk agenda.
Our Ideal Candidate
  • 8+ years of experience in financial data management, credit reporting, and risk management, ideally within a large financial institution
  • Technical Skills: Candidate should have strong expertise in understanding and interpreting complex financial data. They should also be familiar with advanced analytics techniques and the tools necessary for these tasks, such as SQL, Python, or other data analysis software.
  • Leadership Skills: Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills are crucial. The candidate will need to interact effectively with different teams and leaders, translate complex ideas into understandable language, and build consensus.
  • Strategic Thinking: The ideal candidate should demonstrate a strategic mindset. They should be capable of understanding the big picture, making connections between disparate pieces of information, and guiding decision-making based on these insights.
  • Problem-solving Skills: They should have strong problem-solving capabilities and be adept at identifying, analyzing, and addressing challenges in a systematic and effective manner
