Firewall/ Network Engineer (Contract)





Job Purpose
The shortlisted candidate will oversee daily operations, plan and execute projects involving firewalls, switches, routers, wireless and other network equipment to ensure that timelines, budget and objectives are met. S/he will also work with users, cabling contractors, equipment suppliers and service providers to deliver projects.

Operations

• Hands-on troubleshooting and resolution of faults on-site
• Review work done by vendors to identify that contracted services are delivered.
• Provide guidance to vendors and colleagues on prevention of faults.
• Proposed ways to improve operations and service availability.
• Upgrade and replace failed or obsolete hardware/softward
• Review the health of the hardware and fine-tune equipment settings to optimize performance
• Monitor and remediate vulnerabilities and End-of-Life notices
• Ensure operations are audit-ready

• Propose solutions and lead in discussion with users and suppliers
• Put up necessary justification and paperwork to procure products and services
• Conduct regular project meetings to plan and coordinate activities, and resolve any issues
• Coordinate with stakeholders for access, delivery, installation, testing and commissioning
• Provide timely updates to stakeholders
• Ensure projects are audit-ready

• Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or related disciplines
• Cisco CCNP, Checkpoint CCSE, Fortinet NSE or equivalent certification preferred
• Minimum 5 years of working experience in enterprise security and network products
• Must be able to work with a flexible schedule as the role may require work during weekends/public holidays to meet project timelines

• Good knowledge of Firewall, Network, IT Compliance, Project Management and Vendor Management
• Ability to communicate and add value to IT Infrastructure, Security, Network Architectural Design, IT Security & Compliance
• Strong knowledge on firewall and network infrastructure topology
• Knowledge and experience in Critical Infrastructure industry will be an advantage
• Familiar with firewalls, web proxy, VPN, Software Defined Networking, Network Access Control, GPON technologies and products
• Experience with upgrading/installing firewalls and network devices

• Forward looking, and able to manage efficient communication with internal customers and suppliers, foresee and resolve problems
• Ability to work independently under pressure and project timelines, and delivery quality work
• Self-motivated, possess strong interpersonal skills and teamwork
• Ability to work in a non-deskbound role, and comfortable travelling to multiple sites
• Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills
