Job descriptionSpecialist Teachers include Art, Music and Fitness Specialists, who form part of the team of versatile, best in-class educators in the Odyssey. Specialist Teachers bring with them their expertise knowledge, skills and talent in their specialized area of teaching such as in art, music or fitness. They are responsible for planning, implementing, evaluating and assessing, and ensuring the attainment of individualized and group goals for children in their respective areas of curriculum specialization.

Specialist Teacher has

\xc2\xa7 At least a Diploma (ideally a Bachelor degree) in the specialized field (Art, Music or Fitness) \xc2\xa7 Excellent communication skills - spoken and written English\xc2\xa7 Strong interpersonal skills, work with all levels of staff, professionals, parents and families, and community partners from diverse nationalities and cultures\xc2\xa7 With or without early childhood experience; but should display the capacity to teach and the aptitude to interact and work with children.

Developing the Whole Child

Curriculum and Pedagogy\xc2\xa7 Engage in planning and implementing an age-appropriate curriculum that is customized to meet individual learning needs and optimal outcomes for all children.\xc2\xa7 Manage an effective classroom that is focused on positive behavioural guidance.\xc2\xa7 Engage in ongoing observations in the classroom from which to plan intentional teaching and learning strategies that are differentiated and customized to meet the diverse needs of children.\xc2\xa7 Foster and enhance trusting, respectful relationships with children through positive Interactions with them.
Learning Environment\xc2\xa7 Design, set up and engages in ongoing evaluation of learning spaces to promote an optimal learning environment for children.Health, Safety and Nutrition: \xc2\xa7 Establish a safe and healthy environment, ensuring the day-to-day operational functions and SOPs pertaining to childrens care and well-being and safety practices are met.


Collaborating with Families and communities

Families and Community partnership\xc2\xa7 Develop strategies to establish and strengthen rapport and consistent personalized interactions with families by engaging in communication and customer-centric parent partnership and service standards. \xc2\xa7 Support the implementation of collaborative efforts amongst families and community stakeholders.


Building professional capacity

Professional mastery\xc2\xa7 Engage in a culture of professional sharing, networking and collaborations, and reflective teaching practice to promote self-development.
Professional values and Ethics\xc2\xa7 Advocate the policies and processes for establishing the culture of professionalism; driven by the ECE ethics and professionalism as well as the Odyssey programme philosophy, culture and core values.


Building organization capacity

Teamwork and Collaboration\xc2\xa7 Facilitate effective and collaborative work teams, apply decision making, problem solving and emotional competence to manage self and teams at the workplaceVisioning and Planning\xc2\xa7 Embrace and live the Odysseys vision, mission and core values.\xc2\xa7 Contribute to and support the implementation of the short-term and long-term goals that are aligned to the Odysseys vision, mission and core values. \xc2\xa7 Support Odysseys mission for outreach; share knowledge and skills as an Odyssey educator, contribute to outreach initiatives and actively engage in school and community events as well as home-school partnership and parent education programmes.\xc2\xa7 Support Odysseys mission for research and innovation by participating in curriculum initiatives, piloting and review of new curriculum strategies at brand level, as well as trying out of ideas and action research at school level.
