Food Laboratory Assistant
Contract Period: 1 January 2026 - 31 December 2026
Location: Choa Chu Kang Street, Singapore
Working Hours
During School Term (34 hrs per week):
Mondays to Thursdays: 8.30am - 4.30pm (8 hrs inclusive of 1 hr unpaid lunch)
Fridays: 8.30am - 3.30pm (7 hrs inclusive of 1 hr unpaid lunch)
Not required on Saturdays, Sundays, and gazetted public holidays
During School Holidays (4 hrs per day):
Mondays to Fridays: 8.30am - 12.30pm (no lunch break)
Work schedule as follows:
March Holiday: 2 days
June Holiday: 1st week (5 days), last week (3 days)
September Holiday: 2 days
November Holiday: First 2 weeks (10 days)
December Holiday: Last week (3 days)
Not required on Saturdays, Sundays, and gazetted public holidays
Scope of Services
The Food Laboratory Assistant will be responsible for the following:
Preparation & Support for Practical Lessons/Exams
Check quality and quantity of ingredients received
Portion, label, and pack ingredients for lessons/exams
Prepare teaching resources as required
Lab Maintenance & Housekeeping
Ensure cleanliness of Food Lab 1, Food Lab 2, Prep, and Store Rooms
Clean and maintain kitchen equipment (ovens, microwaves, refrigerators, mixers, utensils, cupboards, drawers, etc.)
Perform stock-taking and inventory management of ingredients and resources
Assistance to Teachers & Students
Support teachers in lessons (e.g., video recording, photography for teaching purposes)
Assist students who require additional help during practical lessons
Daily Routines During Term Time
Wipe teacher's table at the beginning and end of the day
Lay out all required ingredients at least 20 minutes before lessons
Clean and reset food labs at the end of the day
Other Duties
Any additional tasks assigned by Nutrition & Food Science teachers or HOD Craft & Tech
Qualifications & Skills
Minimum Secondary 4 education
Ability to read, write, and understand simple English
At least 1 year of relevant experience working in school food labs or other F&B environments
Basic knowledge of First Aid preferred
Good housekeeping, organizational, and communication skills
