Job Description

What the role is:We are looking for passionate candidates to be part of a dynamic team, specialising in the areas of Forensic Chemistry (FC) and Digital Video Analysis (DVA), that strives for continuous improvements and innovation to support forensic investigations in the area of forensic investigations.

• Provide quality and efficient forensic science services utilising both Chemistry and Computer/Imaging Science for the interpretation of forensic evidence.
• Conduct forensic examination of exhibits submitted to the laboratory by law enforcement agencies, which includes operation of analytical instruments used in chemical analysis and computer systems to process digital evidence.
• Prepare forensic reports and provide expert courtroom testimony for the administration of justice.
• Lead and assist in research and quality assurance programs to develop and advance the laboratory\'s methods and technology, and attend crime scenes.

Job Requirements

• Background in Chemistry, Forensic Science, Materials Science, Engineering or a relevant field with knowledge/skills in computer science, computer engineering, digital forensics, information technology, or a combination of relevant academic qualifications, work experience, and digital forensics/IT certification.
• Highly motivated with a strong desire to serve the administration of justice.
• Good critical-thinking and analytical thinking skills, coupled with a keen attention to detail.
• Strong foundational knowledge in chemistry, including chemical reactions, molecular structures and analytical techniques.
• Understanding of underlying theories and principles of common analytical instruments such as GC-MS, LC-MS, FT-IR and Raman spectrometers. Prior hands-on experience in the operation of these instruments is advantageous.
• Proficient in using computers and technology, with a natural aptitude for self-starting and independent problem-solving.
• Proficient in at least one general-purpose programming language such as Java, C++, C#, Ruby, Rust, Python.
• Possess excellent written and spoken English, along with oral presentation skills to effectively communicate scientific and technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
