UWCSEA East seeks qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Boxing/Kickboxing Coach [IEC].

This candidate reports directly to the Fitness Manager on East Campus. The position will be involved with delivering fitness and boxing/kickboxing programmes in our community programme.

United World College South East Asia, East Campus Sports Programme, aims to discover and develop the potential in each and every student commensurate with age and ability in a wide range of activities.

Main Responsibilities



Execute age-appropriate and skill-level-appropriate lesson plans and training programs in boxing and kickboxing. Teach fundamentals to advanced techniques, including stances, footwork, punches, kicks, blocks, and defensive movements, with an emphasis on proper form and body mechanics to maximize effectiveness and minimize injury. Lead warm-ups, cool-downs, stretching, and physical conditioning drills (e.g., cardio, strength, endurance) to improve students' overall fitness. Supervise and guide partner drills, ensuring a safe, respectful, and educational environment for all participants. Monitor, evaluate, and track student progress, providing constructive and timely feedback to help them advance their skills and achieve personal goals. Strictly enforce all safety protocols, rules, and guidelines during training sessions and in the training space; ensure all necessary equipment (gloves, wraps, pads, mouthguards, etc.) is used correctly. Instill and model core values of martial arts, including respect, discipline, perseverance, focus, confidence, and self-control. Foster a positive, supportive, and inclusive learning environment that encourages camaraderie, teamwork, and personal growth among all students. Be prepared to respond to minor injuries or emergencies, possessing current first aid/CPR certifications, and following all school protocols for reporting incidents. Maintain open and professional communication with students, parents/guardians, and school administration regarding schedules, student progress, safety concerns, and program events. Oversee the inventory, proper use, and maintenance/upkeep of all boxing and kickboxing equipment and training space. Manage class attendance records, communicate with school staff about scheduling conflicts, and assist with any program-related marketing or promotion within the school community. Prepare and coach students for any school demonstrations, competitions, or belt/rank testing events.

Person Specifications



Proven experience of minimum of 1-2 years in boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, or a related martial art, either as a competitive athlete or an instructor/coach. Relevant coaching certification from a recognized martial arts/boxing organization, and/or a high-level rank (e.g., black belt equivalent) in the relevant discipline. Current certification in CPR and First Aid. Prior experience teaching or coaching youth/school-aged children is often highly preferred. Exceptional communication, interpersonal, leadership, and motivational skills. The ability to be patient, adaptable, and a positive role model for students.
