Imperium Commodity Search is working with a global commodity and shipping brokerage business seeking to expand their freight derivatives/dry freight and dry bulk FFA brokerage desk in Singapore. Covering dry products across Chinese/Asian markets, experience in either shipbroking with a desire to move into futures/derivatives would be beneficial. Alternatively a futures or derivatives broker with an interest in moving into shipping would be an appropriate route into the growing FFA business.
Duties & Responsibilities:

• Manage Dry Freight and Dry Bulk FFA (Forward Freight Agreements) portfolio across corporate clients in the Chinese/Asian markets
• Actively grow the revenue streams on the desks with trading houses, corporate clients and shipowners seeking dry freight and shipping hedging/risk solutions through FFA execution
• Circulate market updates, analysis and insights to existing and prospect clients in the shipping space across dry freight and dry bulk markets
• Promote business offering across shipping and commodity brokerage to clients, both upselling and cross selling wherever possible
• Maintain and develop relationships across FFA business
• Follow compliance and operational processes when on-boarding new clients and regularly make contact to ensure a good relationship is maintained
• Support in risk activities and adhoc duties where required

Requirements:

• A background in either: Shipping/Shipbroking with a desire to learn and grow on the futures/derivatives side of the market or Futures brokerage experience with a desire to learn and grow on the shipping side of the market
• Good understanding of shipping, international trade or commodity/ship brokerage, ideally on freight derivatives
• Excellent sales acumen with business development track record and the ability to build rapport with new clients and manage existing relationships in the dry freight/dry bulk and shipping space
• FFA broker/Shipbroker/Charterer backgrounds accepted
• Fluent and clear communicator in English language due to client base language customs/requirements. Mandarin fluency beneficial due to Chinese client base/required contacts
• Exposure to and understanding of global trading/shipping markets through a brokerage, trading or sales position in a commodity or shipping business
• Able to work and live in Singapore
