Roles & Responsibilities Front of House Café Assistant
Introduction
Marie’s Lapis Café is an F&B outlet with a sit capacity of 22 customer situated at 537 Bedok North Street 3, #01-575. The menu offerings are Nyonya Cuisine, fusion, and desserts, like waffles, gelato, pastries and of course speciality coffee and tea. The premise is fully air-conditioned. This café is uniquely decorated for a homely feel for work or to chill. We are looking to hire a hard-working, customer-oriented Cafe Assistant to ensure the smooth running of the in-store retail operations and enhance customer experience.
Roles and Responsibilities
As a cafe assistant you will trained to make speciality coffee, manage the POS, website and all the delivery platforms until such time when you will run the front of house independently. 1. Beverages – Cold/hot brew coffee and tea, beer, wine. You will be taught to brew speciality coffee and serve these beverages and recommend or improve offerings after customer feedback, basically upselling. You will be given accountability to give discount when the situation calls for it. 2. Customer Service – You will be trained to converse with customer and grow the customer base, get positive reviews to keep ratings at 4.8 and upwards. You will be taught to manage online customers from WhatsApp, Website, POS and be measured by the conversion rates. You be trained to demonstrate effective communication skills and achieve exceptional customer service base on feedback from customers. 3. Work Ethics – You are expected to be on time to start work and except job request that is reasonable and when necessary, like washing dishes, check stock, pack the storeroom, clean tables, chairs, clean items on display or any work needed for the efficient operation of the café. You must follow all PDPA guidelines and handle monetary transactions with integrity. 4. Sales – You will be trained to manage and grow online sale communities and given access to privilege information for you to be effective in increasing sales. 5. Stock management – You will be trained to be accountable for the stock keeping and guided on when and how to buy. You must be well-organized and adept at using productivity equipment such as MS excel, Words, PowerPoint or its equivalent but not limited to website, POS and phone camera...etc. To be a successful Café Assistant you must: a. Welcome customers by addressing them as Sir or Madam and making them feel special and important. b. Accountable for all stocks, cash sales, product quality and wastage. c. Take orders accurately, be accountable for mistakes made and install process to make sure that the same mistake does not happen. d. Accept the sales goal discussed at every quarter and take action that has been task to you to meet company’s growth and revenue targets. e. Maintain outstanding store condition, taking care of equipment, and arrange the displays. f. Manage the POS such as to upload new items, take pictures for upload and accurately describe product features and benefits on websites and delivery platform. g. You must enjoy working with people in a helpful, courteous manner and have a neat personal appearance h. You must be able to deal accurately with money, highly motivated, with good problem-solving skills and willing to work as part of a team i. Follow all companies’ policies and procedures
Communication skills
– It is important to be a strong, detailed communicator to interact with customers and for service to run smoothly. The main language is English, any other languages will be a plus. Attention to detail – It is important to perform well under pressure and multitask while paying close attention to details especially in delivering high class customer service with the focus on customer satisfaction, consistency, and credibility. Flexibility – As a café assistant you may be required to perform different tasks depending on the day. If the café is terribly busy, for example, you may have to work extra hours and help in areas that may be beyond your job scope.
Education and Essential skill set for a successful candidate
A diploma in from a recognise collage for example Republic, Temasek, Nanyang polytechnic, we welcome fresh graduates who is willing to learn. However, preferences will be given to candidates who have worked part time at a café before. We look forward to your successful application and onboarding. The benefits are:
Annual Leave is 7 days from the 1st year and there after 1 day will be added up a cap of 14 days. You will be given 1 off day every Monday. Medical leave entitlement is 14 days and 60 days of hospitalisation leave which includes the 14 days outpatient sick leave. Insurance.
